Default Do the X-MEN need more villains?

So, it's been a while sense the X-MEN have had any real villains, all of them are either dead or no longer a threat. Sure Mystique is still running around, but the X-MEN have really been only fighting each other, (even the new time travel villains were evil future X-MEN). Do you think they should invent some new villains, or possibly bring in some older ones we haven't seen in a while, like Apocalypse (likely considering the upcoming film), or others.

    Thoughts?

Sinister has been used many times, so has Shadow King, the last new villians was I believe was the Hellfire Club-house. I think a few of the many students at the school could turned villian, but I don't any writer is going to use new villians.

    You make an excellent point.

Yes, they definitely do need new villains (like most superhero books). It seems that most of their conflict in the past decade or more has been with each other, rather than we arch foes or the like, which is another regrettable trend in comics.

And the few villains we do see are dreadfully overused.

Some villains like the black order, they were so badass and I remember all of their names. Proxima Midnight with a spear made from a fallen star, the inmortal Corvius Glaive, Black Dwarf with the density of a planet, Supergiant the world class telepath and the cunning and manipulative Ebony Maw. Avengers get the better villains while the X Men fight the lame brotherhood of the future

Well it's come full circle. Fist you have the X-Men fighting the bad guys. Then you have the X-Men fighting themselves. And now you have the bad guys becoming the X-Men.

Indeed, just revamp some teams a bit perhaps, but there are lots of villainteams that are awesome. Those listed above and of course The Children of the Vault, Nasty Boys and MLF.

Also the Dark Riders and Mutant Liberation Front, perhaps even Mutant Force/the Resistants?

The X-Men also have some really notable solo villains, starting of course with Magneto, who, movie-wise, at least, has gotten far better representation than even Doom.

But there's also Apocalypse, Sinister, Mystique, Selene, etc. and plenty of room to dig up some old classics like the Shadow King or the Gamesmaster or Belasco or Dark Beast, people who are only as dead as the writers want to keep them, and still have plenty of story left in them. (Just to pick examples, Belasco served 'elder gods' that remain unexplored, and probably wasn't their only servant, which could result in some unpleasant surprises in Ilyanna's future, and Dark Beast supposedly spent *decades* experimenting on himself using genetic material harvested from dozens, if not hundreds, of mutants in Apocalypses camps, such that he quite possibly has dozens of artificially harvested mutant abilities that he hasn't bothered to show off yet, since he's so often pretending to 'just' be 616 Hank McCoy...)

Since mutants have ties (through Celestial intervention) with the Eternals and Deviants, there's always room for members or factions of those races to get involved (as a faction of Inhuman supporters of Apocalypse, the Dark Riders, have gotten mixed into mutant affairs).

The Savage Land Mutates are another plot seed awaiting, since the machines that Magneto used to artificially mutate those Swamp People are still out there, and could just as easily mutate a bunch of Pterans or Zebra People or whatever Savage Land race or faction ends up taking control of them / being experimented on within them.

Even loser teams like the Mutant Liberation Front had some gems, like Tempo, who could serve as a sort of 'speed broker' for criminals, stealing time from 'volunteers' and freezing them in stasis for a time, while the 'stolen time' is re-gifted to crooks who pay her, so that they gain temporary super-speed, to better perform heists or assassinations or whatever. The more you pay her, the more hapless people get frozen and tossed in the basement of her club, giving you all of their accumulated time to use to enhance your own speed. One person doubles your speed, three triples it, a dozen and you're a one-man bank robbery, moving so fast the guards have no chance to even draw their guns! That's just a single character, commercializing her mutant talent to serve as a source for super-fast-crook-enabled crime-spree that the X-folk have to deal with.
