- the All Mother faces off with the horribly written, doushelevel turned to ten Aaron Odin. Odin is not pleased

- Riot outside the palace, lead by the warriors 3 and Sif. They attack... Destroyer makes quick work of them.

- Odin sentences the All Mother to death (I think), but hten janeThor arrives

- JaneThor knocks the living **** out of Odin. He gets up and the fight is on!... for next issue.



Can't wait for Aaron to completely butcher Odin! Can't wait for him to somehow make JaneThor a credible threat when Odin has routinely punched realThor.

Aaron's Odin is horrid.

- Malekith make queen to accept his proposal by help of Enchantress

- Odin accused Freya for attack against Destoyer

-But Sif is still free while did exactly the same 0_о

-Everything Odin said make sence if you think about Asgard as if it was portraited before (simply Vikings)

-But he sound like one big douche if you type USA instead of Asgard

-Freya answer for Odins accuse is that hes a fool and Asgard changed and he didn't and no she didn't give a second thouth about him or his words

-Odin said that he would rule Asgard for eternity 0_o

So Aaron didn't have a time to picture a changes that was made in Asgard and just walk a simple road and translate IRL problem in Asgard without make them deep and serious.

So Odin sound just like a fool and old patriarch which is want to rule for eternity and everyone else is much more advanced and open minded individuals.

P.S. Well there is a small posibility that Aaron work whith a litle bit deeper plot that is now on surface but as now Im just too tired to read it further.

Past instances of Odin showing to have contemporary liberal ideas about governance, woman and society? I don't think so, it's just that these topics were never used on Thor stories, but it's exactly how I expect him to act in this situation, stubborn and sure to be in the right, and I read many decades of Thor stories.

In the comics when Bor broke Mjolnir, Dr. Strange repaired it by using the Odinforce in Thor, part of Thor's soul and his own magic. So Mjolnir is more powerful than it used to be, and it's outgrown Odin in power. Thankfully. Odin as he is characterized in comics is from the Stan Lee 60s era where the old white men were in charge of their respective domains. It was Xavier and Magneto for mutants, Odin for the Asgardians, Reed Richards for the FF, etc. Old man Odin was always basically BULLYING his son Thor and heaping ridiculous punishments on him that got unchallenged.

But today things have changed. As the overall culture of today has changed, so has Marvel comics in bringing more female characters to the forefront. The All Mother ruling Asgard is a part of that. And actually in the ancient myths Freyja got one half of the dead in Valhalla (Odin got the other half). She was not subordinate to Odin (a lot of experts now say Freyja and Frigga are the same goddess in ancient myths). 60s Marvel reimagined the ancient myths to solely focus on a few male gods most of the time, but as noted that isn't the culture we live in.

Back to Odin, he's about to change now as this is the first time he will get a Grade A beat down by a Thor, a woman Thor no less.

Aaron's Thor run with Jane as Thor has already become what I consider the 2nd best Thor run ever. If things keep going the way the are, I can see it even topping Simonson's run.

They didn't derailed him. They are showing how it would react, totally in character given his past behaviors, to change. Thor is the second best selling Marvel comic book anyway, second only to Spider Man, so the annoyed people must be a really tiny minority.

There is a huge, huge, huge difference between being resistant to change to becoming a homicidal maniac that would watch the 9 realms burn, irrationally try and kill JaneThor, trust his crazy ass brother with power, ect.

And Odin was JUST written rationally during the Original Sin stuff when he came back.

And this is a serial narrative, so things are not explained upfront but in media res, and there are probably reasons that will be explained when make sense for the story and not right now because some readers are curious

Agreed. Odin has been written terribly since Fraction began writing the comic. Aaron has just fallen in step with Fraction's portrayal. Lee never wrote Odin as bullying Thor even when he punished him for disobedience (which was a fairly common staple in Lee's run). Odin and Thor never truly came to blows before Fraction; the level of disrespect they show for each other now is a recent character change in each of them. Aaron is not a bad writer but he needs to re-establish the nobility of these characters and the love they have always had for each other.

And saying that Mjolnir has "outgrown Odin in power" is just silly. Hopefully Aaron won't do anything that stupid.

This series has been getting better and better. This was wonderful. I haven't enjoyed a Thor comic in a very long time. Absolute incredible stuff. Freya is glorious too.

It is hinted in this issue that Cul might be influencing Odin. Even though Odin is completely capable of acting as an a** by his own volition he does seem more OOC since he set Cul free.

Doubt it Odins just pissed Gaea, Freya & Idunn did a better job then him. Also, I hope Gaea kicks his ass.
