Love Deodatos work, he's one of my top artists and when he's on a title its a huge checkmark in my checklist of
things that make me excited to read it.

I also noticed that his characters often have a 3D modeling / CGI look to them - which, I think looks really cool the context of how
he uses it and the color palettes that he and his colorists have been using lately.

Did we get a good answer on that in this thread yet?

If the question is how does he do it -- here's a video of him drawing on his tablet, though his explanations are all in Portuguese.

I'm assuming someone else does the coloring, and I don't doubt he shades far more heavily on most of his other images.

To clarify, I only meant it as heavy photo referencing... But yeah, he definitely uses some photo reference at times.

Both images are from the INCREDIBLE Thunderbolts run by Warren Ellis. It's only 12 issues long; and I'd rank it as one of the best runs I've ever read (so do pick it up).

I want to see an American Eagle & Red Wolf team-up by Deodato ASAP.

Not a fan of his more recent work. Anytime a comic's art looks too much like stiff 3D models it pulls me really out of the experience. It really hurts the fluidity of the storytelling.

His current title, Invincible Iron Man, is just so unnecessarily dark. I don't know it it's because of his overuse of shadowing, heavy lines.... or maybe it's partially the colorist too.

He's one of my favorite current artists. I remember his 90's stuff. Big hair, long legs, & crazy thin waists. That's on both men & women! I definitely prefer his current work although he does sometimes seem to be a slave to photo reference or whatever. I'd definitely take him over someone like a Jim Lee.

I was looking at his art & stumbled onto this Cap & Iron Man piece. It brought to mind the IM3 poster. Still nice art but you can see photo reference. Could just be really similar though. Fine artist!
