He keeps his hands on the table, so to speak, while at the same time leaving enough unanswered questions that wet our appetites for future issues. Just my impression. Anyway, that was an awesome scene, and brilliantly demonstrated everyone's powers and how they use them, without boring exposition.
His plotting style is 10/10 in my book. What has happened with some of his predecessors is that they tried to keep the reader far too much in the dark. Take Matt Fraction's Red Queen plot and Bendis' "Why can't the O5 go back into the past"/"the man in the mask"/several other plots. They either kept the mystery going then rushed the execution at the end or the reveal was dropped their run was up. Bunns plotting is superb.

The Deadbolt scene was perfectly cult-ish. Still, of course it was one of the MUTANTS that was weak and needed help from a stronger Inhuman. Such a CompleX situation. I kid. I kid.

So far so good with this first arc, I hope we get a solid conclusion next month and then please fix Archangel in the Apocalypse Wars story and I'll be very happy.

    I loved this.

But I'm apprehensive about Xorn. Are they retconning Xorneto again? Leave it alone, it's going to make to perfect drama to have Shen Xorn and Magneto on the same team, if a bit headache inducing.

I enjoyed this issue. Uncanny X-men continues to be one of the few mainline X-men comics that doesn't rely on whining about Cyclops or how screwed mutants are. It relies on a team of X-men that is actually willing to do something about their current state. Something about that makes this a satisfying series. This issue was satisfying in the same way. I can't believe Xorn shined this much. It's the first time the Dark Riders really got pwned and I'll admit. It put a big smile on my face. I really enjoyed that part. The clash between the two teams was also nicely done. I know there will be plenty who bash Greg Land's art, but I think he did these scenes very well. I just wish there had been more Mystique. She's definitely at the top of my list for being interested in this series, although Xorn is now on that list as well.

I did a full review for this issue on my blog. If it's okay with the mods, here's a link:

Kind of seems odd that the team would just rush headlong in without giving it a second thought about it being a trap, and it's a lot of bias that Magneto expected it all to happen...making it seem like he was willing to throw away the lives of the entire team to get what he wanted...

Cullen Bunn is doing an excellent job. And Lands work looks great. I hope the quality keeps up.
Wait... What?!? Shen Xorn and Magneto are both alive and well?

Then who's head did Wolverine cut off?

That was Shen Xorn's brother, pretending to be Magneto pretending to be Xorn.

    Kuan-Yin Xorn

Kuan-Yin had a star for a brain, Shen Xorn had a black hole IIRC.

I'm stanning for Xorn. That was just well done. Land continues to impress. It aches me to compliment him as an artist, but I do think he is the best artist of the team X-Books (including Ibanez's fill-in).

This book is just increasingly awesome with a great mix of action, intrigue, and character work. Hope Bunn keeps up the good work and stays on the title for a long while.
