I love Bale, but his Batman and Bruce did fall short. But of course it was not all Bale's fault, he wasn't the writer or director. Bruce and Batman are very hard to nail anyway, only Mask of the Phantasm & BTAS nailed them for me (and neither were live action).

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft
Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”
Bale's his own worst critic, and it's easy to nitpick after seeing another director's take on him. Personally, I always loved Bale's Wayne/Batman - and yeah, this wouldn't even be a thought if we didn't have another take on Batman coming so soon.
I think he's right, but it's not his fault. The writers didn't get Batman right, so how could he?
I kind of agree, but it's not his fault. Some of the ways Bruce was written in that trilogy fell short, and the ridiculous voice should have been toned down. I like Bale in other stuff, so his blandness in the trilogy isn't something I put all the blame on him for.
I think he did as well as anyone could have done with the material he was given. Which was by no means terrible but for me went far too much into what Batman meant symbolically and metaphorically to the extent as an actual character he wasn't particularly well fleshed out. If there's failings with the Nolanverse version of Batman and Bruce Wayne I don't think they fall on Bale's shoulders.
Yeah that voice was annoying, like fingernails across a blackboard, rather than scary or menacing. I wanted to scream "like dude clear your throat!" He sounded like he was about too barf up a lung. And Bane was even worse his dialog was so garbled and at times he needed subtitles especially in scenes where there was background noise.
Never had any problem understanding Bane. Still not sure where that complaint comes from.
I've heard Bale's voice was altered in post. If not, somebody should really have told him to tone it down. Again, I don't really blame him for that, it was down to Nolan. I also heard the cowl pinched his nose and he couldn't breath through it. Poor guy, no wonder Batman stands around with his mouth hanging open in some shots.
