well busty women on comics is the most common things, so being diversity of female bodies on comics is not a good way to justify. No wonder supergirl and WW cast was largely criticized because the actress weren't busty.
now where is the different shapes of women? where is a female superhero that is overweight? I really don't see this at DC

Its not just the bust size though. That's what we're talking about here, but Karen's body type is different from the way most female superheroes are drawn.

Yeah, her chest is noticeably bigger than most other women's, almost comically so. But she's also typically drawn like a weight lifter; she has muscle definition beyond what you typically see and is thicker than most. Obviously not all artists draw her that way, but the majority do.

And Karen's bust is a topic of conversation within the story and something that she actually has to contend and deal with, which gives it more merit than, say, Black Canary's chest, which is also drawn large but might as well not be there at all for the impact it has on her character or interactions. Yes, women in comics are drawn like porn stars (and so are the men for that matter though no one complains about that) but you can largely gloss over the majority of that because their physical proportions are rarely, if ever, brought up. Its sort of like looking at someone with your beer goggles on; comics make everyone look good but that doesnt necessarily represent them accurately, its more of an idea of what they look like. With Karen, her "busty girl problems" are part of her character.

well fanservice. if she doesn't know what symbol use, have a giant cleavage is not the smart choice.

I really can't make any distiction between powergirl body and the other heroines. it is all drawn from the same body shape.
she just abit stronger than supergirl, and has the same muscle structure like black canary

this kind of body is so impossible to get

That's my thinking. Better off not stating any reason than making up such a silly one.

Agreed. It was foolish to try and explain her costume in the first place.

Amanda Conner doesnt highlight the differences as much as some others. But even in that image her arms are thicker than many, as are her thighs and rib cage. My memory is certainly spotty but I seem to recall the artist for Johns' second JSA run really hitting the "weight lifter" look....what was his name....Engalsham or something?

Its certainly not common, but *impossible* is a pretty strong word. I've known girls built like that, or close to it. Some of them even achieved it without surgery, though not all. Hell, my wife looks a lot like that, other than being a foot shorter than Karen likely is (wife is only 5'1" and I figure Karen at least hits 6'0") And really, its not like getting Superman's physique is any easier or more likely.

Yeah, I dont get why it cant be as simple as "I like my body and enjoy showing some cleavage" There's nothing wrong with a woman who enjoys showing off what she's got, and I know many who do so for their own satisfaction, not so they can be ogled by random people. They feel empowered when they're well dressed and look good, like makeup is their war paint or something.

majority of artists doesn't highlight the differences. also there is some strong women with muscles on comics that have big boobs like she-hulk or Barda. the artists just draw her a little bigger than supergirl, because she is suppossed to be older.

the body is the same that powergirl. female bodies are almost always interchangeable

dale eaglesham makes her really strong, but this is not how female body works.

it's close to almost impossible to mortal women. A lot of exercise and maybe even some boob and belly job. super thin hips, low fat body and still has giants boobs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
superman is just about getting on gym and do phisiculturist work or just crossfir like henry cavill and , female body is far more complex. hips, boobs don't grow like muscles (they can get a bit bigger but nothing like powergirl cartoony boobs)

well it can be, if they want to go with the ridiculous big cleavage go with she want to show off.

but that powergirl is mostly fan service, it is. she is a character created by men and mostly drawn by men and many female characters are just drawn the same way than her.

It varies from artist to artist, but most don't draw other women like Powergirl. The body diversity shouldn't stop there though. There should be fatter, flat-chested, tall, short, pear shaped, etc...

The size of her chest has almost always varied depending on who draws it. I don't see why that tradition should end now.

What gets me is people saying she should put an S-shield over the hole. I know they retconned it back into place, but I still can't think of her as a Super-family character (despite where I found this thread). When I was young, she was the granddaughter of Arion of Atlantis and I actually didn't have a problem with that unlike some.

There are many different types of women in real life who have a variety of body shapes and who manage to be athletic. Personally, I'd prefer a PG who's thicker and more buff. Are the large breasts a part of that? No. but can't we rationalize by thinking she can fly and is from Krypton?

Make her flat chested. Why tease the forty something year old reader with something they'll never get.

body diversity on comics seems to work with what men find attractive, like giant boobs instead of a overweight woman

She a solid girl who all muscle and chest! And enjoys have a very athletic and noticeable muscular look compared to other female heroes! And enjoys showing it off (mostly).

    Well, cleavage windows actually exist...
