    Default IDW Publishing

Just a thread to discuss everything from this amazing publisher.

    Some info on IDW

Among their most critically acclaimed Titles are 30 days of Night and Locke and Key

Another great part of IDW is the Library of American Comics that releases extremely high quality collections of classic newspaper comics ( I have all 5 collections of Bloom County)

You can find some reviews of their comics here

A full list of what they have published

What is YOUR favourite IDW comic? Mine currently is TMNT and their Godzilla comics

TMNT is currently the best comic I read (along with Spider-Man). I also enjoy Star Trek and Judge Dredd.

Ghostbusters is my favorite. Bit of a slow/uneven start to the relaunch last year (IMO), but it since feels back on track, and I'm really digging the "Mass Hysteria!" arc so far.

I also really love Wild Blue Yonder, but the wait between issues is killing me. It started in June 2013, and it's only up to four of its six issues, with still no date yet (that I've seen) for #5.

    Ditto.

I greatly miss IDW's original G.I. Joe line, though. Mike Costa's work on Cobra and The Cobra Files in particular was absolutely phenomenal. I hope he's not done with the property just yet.

I love Dredd, it's probably my favorite comic. Simonson is off to a good year, and 7th Sword has potential.

I'd like to try TMNT, but I dunno where to begin.

The Secret History of the Foot Clan mini is one of the best things in the series, is pretty self-contained, is available in trade and ties in to the City Fall arc that is the plot of the 2 most recent trades. I think it is a great starting point.

EDIT: I assumed you meant the IDW series, it occurs to me that you might have meant the original Mirage comics. In that case, you could get the Ultimate Collection Volumes 4 & 5, together they hold a very good story that marked a turn to more serious storytelling by Mirage.

The Ultimate Collections are rather pricey hardcovers, though. If you'd like to try the Turtles' more action-oriented early stories, you might be able to find the Color Classics Volume 1 reprints. They are floppies and should be much cheaper. I'm pretty sure they're available on Comixology.

I have been afraid to try out the IDW Dredd is it worth grabbing some of the trades? Did anyone give the new Rogue Trooper series a try?

I've read one issue of the regular Dredd series and one issue of the Year One series. They were alright, but not good enough for me to add to the pull list. I assume the inevitable five sister titles with constant crossover plots isn't far off, so I won't bother.

Langridge's Popeye was good fun, and so was the Mars Attacks special.

My shop never gets in any of the Rogue Trooper stuff.

With Dredd, you're better off checking out the trades. It's more of a commitment, but the series so far is basically one long story. It flows well from issue to issue and the big picture is cool. Nelson Daniel is a really good main artist. I know some people aren't fond of the fact that it's not exactly Dredd Canon or whatever, but I just enjoy comics for what they are.

Year One was pretty good, so was the Mars Attacks mini and the one-shot sequel to the movie. I wanted to like "Mega City Two" because the creators put so much into it, but it didn't really hook me in. The Judge Anderson books should be cool. IDW puts out plenty of Dredd books but there hasn't been anything close to " the inevitable five sister titles with constant crossover plots" mentioned by dupont2005.

It's kinda going it's own way from the show, but still an enjoyable read nonetheless.
