The gimmick here being that these are all characters that debuted in one Avengers book or another, and went on to not a lot of success after.

Rage has done the best out of everyone, but as a New Warrior not an Avenger.
Even Busiek and Perez couldn’t get Triathlon and Silverclaw over, though I liked them. Triathlon went on to take the 3D Man name and costume. I’m ok w. the name but didn’t like him in the old costume, so in my version he goes back to an earlier version of his own design.
Silverclaw hasn’t been seen since Civil War that I’m aware of.
Poor Singularity wound up getting killed off, but that’s never stopped a character before.
Voyager was a way more interesting version of the erased from reality hero than Sentry to me. She has great look, too.

This team has an Avengers vibe to it imo, w. a couple of energy wielding heavy hitters and a few characters on the lower end, more physical side of things.

The team's got a nice Brad Meltzer-era Justice League feel to it where it's comprised of some mainstays, a backbencher or two who could us the promotion, and some next-generation characters. I think it'd be fun to reunite Jan and Monica considering they haven't shared a run since Stern's Avengers (one of my all-time favorites), and you could milk some hilarity out of Jan realizing that she shares a team with her great-grandson.

Astonishing Avengers (writer: Al Ewing, illustrator: Olivier Coipel)

Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) and Captain America (Steve Rogers)
-These two founding members serve as co-leaders of the team, and while they have a long history of serving together, this is the first time they've been reunited in a few years. As a result, even though Jan's the official leader, Cap has his strong opinions about some matters and his rigid idealism clashes with her bubbly pragmatism. They're able to resolve things in a responsible, mature manner at first, but tensions bubbling under the surface are bound to boil over soon.

    She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters)
-She's reluctant to serve as the team's muscle (following Aaron's downright debasing characterization of her) and was initially joined up solely as the team's legal counsel, mainly as a favor to Jan. However, the business of the Avengers often demands having a heavy-hitter on standby, so no matter how afraid she is of reverting into her neanderthalic form, she'll hulk out if the team needs her.

Songbird (Melissa Gold) and Mach-X (Abner Jenkins)
-Having a power couple AND ex-villains on the team are tropes almost as old as the Avengers themselves, so it's appropriate to call that cliche up again by bringing these two to the big leagues. Jan would mentor Melissa, and Steve would see the brilliant Abner needing guidance as an opportunity to help lift up a team genius who doesn't have Tony's ego, Hank's self-loathing, or Reed's one-track-mind. This couple would serve as the focal characters of the run, with both of their insecurities and guilt being driving forces for inter-character developments.

    Angela
-To paraphrase a line from Bendis's Mighty Avengers, you need a Wolverine and a Thor. You need a member who's willing to do the dirty work, and you need a member with godlike powers to handle those nigh-invulnerable threats. Better yet, you can find them both in the same character. Angela is Thor's delegate to the team from Asgard, since he'll have a lot on his plate being King of Asgard- he's also hoping that his former teammates can help smooth out his baby sister's rough edges. She's a pain in the neck, but she'll get the job done.

    Nova (Richard Rider)
-If you need a Wolverine and a Thor, then you definitely need a Hawkeye and a Captain Marvel. Nova does double-duty as the team's cosmic muscle and comic relief, and frankly, it's about time that Ol' Dick Rider got a chance to shine again. Now more jaded from all the **** that's hit the bed in Marvel Cosmic over the last decade and a half, the Human Rocket is now the team's Deadpan Snarker.

    Doorman (DeMarr Davis)
-No Avengers team is really complete without a dark-horse, left-field teammate, and the former Great Lakes Avenger certainly fits the bill. His Darkforce Teleportation powers makes him the team's teleporter, but he definitely feels out of his league next to the storied heroes of legend he's serving with- which puts him in good company with Songbird and Mach-X.

My Avengers line up has pretty much been the same for years in my mind mixing both the X-Men & Avengers cast together, like the original idea of the Uncanny Avengers.

    Captain America
    Emma Frost
    Gambit
    Iron Man
    Nightcrawler
    Scarlet Witch

think that would be and interesting mix of personalities and powers while also mixing both rosters nicely together.I think the interactions between Stark/Gambit/Emma would be really fun and Nightcrawler/Scarlet Witch as well. While Cap tries to hold everything together, plus that small hint in the recent X-Men gala of Emma and Cap eyeballing each other.

    Wasp (Chairwoman)
    Hank Pym
    The Vision
    She-Hulk
    USAgent
    Iron Patriot

I feel like this team would generate opportunities for some interesting character dynamics. You could have a Kirk/Spock/McCoy Freudian trio with Jan, Viz, and Hank. You could play up Hank and Jan as amicable exes who are now friends, back together in a relationship, or as a 'will they or won't they' type of thing. She-Hulk could be back to her funny, sexy, sassy self. A more conservative John Walker and liberal Toni Ho would be political opposites, à la Hawkman and Green Arrow, who could either come to respect each other more over time or remain hostile.
    Wanna make somethin' of it?
