I had a different idea for a team: Not necessarily Avengers but "Marvels". The best of all groups in the MU, kind of a supergroup if you will.

I've been diving DEEP into the Young hero reservoir of my trade collection and as such, I've grown very nostalgic for certain character dynamics so I'll add a new list:

Victor Mancha - son of Ultron and resistor of "evil destiny" and charming fan boy cyborg. I imagine he would be brought back to life via the combined efforts of Prodigy, Finesse, and Wiccan.

Prodigy - unsung former mutant genius and all around brilliant leader

Finesse - emotionally stunted polymath and resident nerve rattler

Wiccan - reality warping deity in training

Lightspeed - bubbly co leader and seasoned adventurer with a recently restored sense of idealism

Cipher - multi-stealth-powered enigmatic mutant

Hulkling - shapeshifting space hunk and future king of space

She-Hulk, Wasp, Quicksilver, Falcon, Ant-man, Ares (yes bring him back) and other well known Avengers could be auxiliary members or on another team dealing with other stuff...

Spiderman, Rogue, Cable, Doom, Johnny Storm, Ms Marvel, Blade, Black Panther etc either should have own series or simply should not be Avengers IMO.

I'd have Cyke leading a team of Astonishing Avengers (a mutant led counter to the Uncanny Avengers) that consists of:

I think this would be an interesting line-up, never happen though.

Why yes, this is an unusual team. Those are the most interesting, I think. Carol, Wanda and Sam all have long associations with the Avengers, so they link the team to the past. Forge is the tech expert, wanting to get away from the X-Men for a while. Singularity, having a variety of male and female role models around, would get to explore gender in more depth, and get to be gender fluid. Sera as a magical expert beyond even Wanda's level, and also just wanting to have some fun for a while. And being curious about Singularity.

And then Cyclops. The adult version. I had the idea of the Avengers finding Scott, maybe captive somewhere, or maybe just living his own life up in Alaska. Either way, he'd get involved in one of their missions, and he'd stick around, and he and Wanda would become good friends, bonding over how screwed up their lives are. Both have family trees that are convoluted and involve time travel. Both were possessed by power they couldn't control and, as a result, did something horrible. And even though they both know it wasn't really their fault, neither can actually shake off the sense of guilt. So Scott and Wanda would become friends, maybe even romantically involved. Exploding the heads of everyone else both in- and out-of-universe. (The one character who wouldn't be shocked: Jean. She'd just say, "Huh, yeah, OK, I can see it. They might be really good for each other. I wish them the best.")

Neat lineup!

Finesse is easily my favorite from the Avengers Academy (although I like Reptil and Striker as well), and Wiccan and Hulkling (and Hawkeye 2.0 and Cassie) seem to be the breakout Young Avengers. I also like Victor most of the 'later additions' to the Runaways.

I'd maybe pick a less used member of Power Pack, like the younger sister, with the density manipulation powers (assuming she still has those, although the name 'Molecula' can go away...) or 'Jumping Jack' with the gravity-manipulation, and a different mutant than Cipher (being a bigger fan of Hellion, Dust, Bling!, Loa, etc.).
