That seems pretty short for building the Spider-Army, though.

This. That doesn't mean he's not angry at Ock. He's just more relieved right now that he's alive and back in control. I suspect that we'll see more anger at specific moments.

It was a nebulous period of 'months'. There's a 31 day gap that wasn't explored between the end of Darkest Hours and the beginning of Goblin Nation, though.

I think we're supposed to read that line as a wink from Slott. It's an inside joke, aimed to tease the reader. Slott often throws these kind of knowing asides in, and it's best not to take them too seriously.

In bi-weekly instalments, it might seem like Peter isn't angsty enough about what Ock did. But when you read the issues back to back, you see more convincing character development. Ghost Peter freaks out a lot at the start, then fights back, eventually re-emerges with a new lease on life and a more positive perspective. The Peter we find in ASM 1 is a character unwilling to mope or fret as much as he used to.

While it feels a bit wonky to read a bright and breezy Peter after a whole year of Ock, it's a good starting point for the new series.

Is Peter going to keep the PhD? Would be really unethical, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Id imagine hed be more happy he got it back at first. He may get upset as time passes... as it sinks in how badly his personal life is in shambles

I dunno Pete has always struck me a person who cares more about whats done to other people rather than whats done to himself.

He might blame Otto for what was done to Carlie, Black Cat, and for the deaths of Spider-slayer and Massacre. But actually taking offense for the wrongs actually done to him in a meaningful way doesn't seem likely. Plus for all he knows the man is dead there's nothing for him to get mad at. Maybe he'll see SpOck in Spiderverse and they can have it out then.

I think Peter Parker is a bit naive in this first issue. The Avengers haven't confronted him. Black Cat hasn't confronted him. The negatives that SpOck left Peter haven't shown themselves yet. I think issue 3 will start the snowball of negative fallout. Only then will he see the mess that was left for him.
