The original was better. It didnt end with everything neatly wrapped.

Pacific Rim is the Best Kaiju movie so far.

Perfect mix of human story and monster fighting. Plus it has MECHS!

I read the book 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY before I saw the movie. The book is better. I like the movie--I just can't say it's perfect, having read the book . . . "I'd love to turn you on." Somebody spoke and I went into a dream.

Pacific Rim isn't even better than the new Godzilla from 2014. It's enjoyable, but it's character stuff is all a mess that could have been pretty easily fixed. It's also no where near as good as stuff like the '90s Gamera movies, or Rodan.

Perfect movies, in the sense of being perfectly formed, perfectly themselves:

    When Night is Falling
    Angel Heart
    Tale of a Vampire
    Sabrina
    Rashomon
    Vampyros Lesbos
    8 1/2
    Sonatine
    The Very Eye of Night
Patsy Walker on TV! Patsy Walker in new comics! Patsy Walker in your brain! And Jessica Jones is the new Nancy! (Oh, and read the Comics Cube.)

If I thought I actually knew what they were trying to achieve, I would say Only God Forgives. That said, they had me stumped.

It hard to tell if it's meant to be taken seriously at all. It's very heavy handed about its hand symbolism. Is this meant to be funny, or is it just really stupid? I don't know. It's a very dumb movie, but its stupidity still had me laughing. It's also got some terrible dialogue and crappy action scenes...so even if it is meant to all be a joke, it's still got problems.

Streets of Fire, big ol' bomb that it was, is a perfect movie. Purely, honestly itself. Nothing in it that does't contribute to a greater whole.

The Dark Crystal - Some of the best practical creature effects still, just an amazing atmosphere, just amazing. Del Toro's Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth are the only films that come close to creature design for me, but no film has managed that feeling or tone.
Ghostbusters - Right balance of humor and seriousness for it's premise, perfect cast in their comedic prime, and even the bad ghost designs and effects give it a unique charm that adds something special to it.
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
Big Trouble in Little China - A weird mystic kung fu parody movie that hits all the right notes for me. I wouldn't change a scene.
Bubba Ho-tep - An Elvis vs mummy movie with serious heart.
Honorable mention: Hellboy Pretty close to perfect, must've seen it a couple hundred times now. If not for a few things it'd be perfect instead of honorable mention.

Honestly, there isn't a single film that I have ever seen that I would call perfect. I'm too much of a critic to not find something in any movie that I can pick at or question. Even movies that I love and have watched numerous times.
