Default Will Rucka's Wonder Woman Rebirth Put The DC Leading Lady Into The Top Ten Sales Charts?

for whatever reason Wonder Woman's never really been a hot seller and easily gets brushed aside as someone that cannot really make a big enough impact to change the mainstream public's opinion on her

like I'm shocked that wonder woman is the most iconic female comic book character and yet her sales aren't anything to be proud of.....

although the fact that Greg Rucka's name attached to wonder woman rebirth shook the comic book fanbase to its core makes me wonder if that will translate to blockbuster size sales?

It is extremely unlikely to put her in the top 20...

There's definitely a possibility. All depends on how the people view his story. Everywhere I go, people seem to be excited. Even the ones that don't usually read DC.

No. Like Carabas said, its a huge question mark that she'll ever even crack the top 20. But that's a more realistic hope.

And that's certainly not to say the run won't be quality. It certainly might be, but Wonder Woman just doesn't pull those numbers, regardless of revamps.

it must be one hell of a mystery that DC can't seem to figure out why none of their female led books are selling like hotcakes

Wonder Woman and to some extend superman have not been able to attract customers the way Batman has. It has a lot to do with general awareness of product. Wonder woman's stories arcs are not promoted as some sort of event. Since new 52 every major batman arc has been promoted as some sort of event e.g court of owls, death in family, zero year, end game and super-heavy. Though Wonder Woman has been selling better than she was before 52. She usually sells more than Marvel females, the highest selling book female book is Harley Quinn which is owned by DC.

She's the lone female character in all of comics that does that well, though. Looking at Feb's sales featuring female-led titles:

    21 Harley Quinn 25 $3.99 DC 51,495
    31 Harleys Little Black Book 2 $4.99 DC 45,030
    32 Spider-Gwen 5 $3.99 Marvel 43,796
    39 Paper Girls 5 $2.99 Image 37,206
    48 A-Force 2 $3.99 Marvel 35,571
    49 Wonder Woman 49 $3.99 DC 35,398
55 Batman Arkham Knight Batgirl and Harley Quinn 1 $3.99 DC 33,061
    56 Superman Wonder Woman 26 $3.99 DC 32,108
    59 Ms Marvel 4 $3.99 Marvel 30,916
    64 Captain Marvel 2 $3.99 Marvel 28,962
    71 Silk 4 $3.99 Marvel 26,786
    75 Silk 5 $3.99 Marvel 26,032
    76 Batgirl 48 $2.99 DC 25,625
    81 Scarlet Witch 3 $3.99 Marvel 23,900
85 Poison Ivy Cycle of Life and Death 2 $2.99 DC 23,452
    86 Starfire 9 $2.99 DC 22,918
    87 Superman Lois and Clark 5 $3.99 DC 22,775
    104 Spider-Woman 4 $3.99 Marvel 20,747
    105 DC Comics Bombshells 9 $3.99 DC 20,349
    124 Unbeatable Squirrel Girl 5 $3.99 Marvel 17,743
    126 Bitch Planet 7 $3.99 Image 17,221
    133 Legend of Wonder Woman 2 $3.99 DC 16,816
    134 Patsy Walker Aka Hellcat 3 $3.99 Marvel 16,587
135 Suicide Squad Most Wanted Deadshot Katana 2 $4.99 DC 16,529
    136 Angela Queen of Hel 5 $3.99 Marvel 15,968
138 Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur 4 $3.99 Marvel 14,941
    143 Black Canary 8 $2.99 DC 14,461
    148 Black Magick 5 $3.99 Image 14,024
    151 Catwoman 49 $2.99 DC 13,659
    157 Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 24 $3.99 Dark Horse 12,852
Realistically, I think the best Wonder Woman can hope for is top 20. She will never beat the more popular male-dominated titles. It's just the sad fact of comic books.

Well according to the creme de la creme of the Wonder Woman fandom, this is a character that's very "complex", it's not for the lowest common denominator...in other words, the Wonder Woman target demographic is the one percenters! Most of the folks here on the WW boards are Mensa members, actually

It's worth mentioning that even Superman usually can't break the top 30 unles something special is going down.

Harley has two things going for her: she's a Batman character, and she's dark and crazy. That's why she broke out the way she did.

It's amazing how much Harley has skyrocketed in recent years. I recall back in 2005, I bought the complete set of her 38 issue title series that started in (the year) 2000 for like $50. The prices that same complete set goes for now on eBay is ....wow!

With Wonder Woman, I really can't see her REBIRTH sales cracking the top 10. Perhaps her positive reception, and exposure from the BvS film can give the book sales a bit of a boost compared to her New52 sales, but even that kinda scenario may be too generous.
