I understand. And yes, I was truly apologizing! (I reread my post and it did look like it could be sarcasm; the internet is not great for tone sometimes) Someone quoted the unedited angrier post so thanks for being nicer. I feel like there's things in comics that are always going to divide the fandom (the Wally/Barry Flash debate is another example), but DC definitely could manage it better.
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft
Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”
Ok yeah after spending enough time looking at the art for superboy....I can get on board with Superboy, the biological son of Superman.
Which means I am only boycotting Action Comics which just means I actually get to read The Flash or Green Lanters (does anyone know anything about Sam Humphries? I like Jessica from Justice League but that creative team sounds like a bunch of nobodies)
Here's my plan - try all Superman-related Rebirth specials and first issues, see if I enjoy them and decide if I want to continue.
The Batman line is the only line they have consistently handled with competence. Why buy bad comics? That's always been my thing. For my part, I legitimately enjoyed Truth, art issues aside, I enjoyed lobdell Superman, mainly because of Rocafort art, his handling of Cat Grant turning her into a sympathetic character and the way he drew diana in her civvies being...so great, I loved the couple issues of Superman Jurgens did (LucyxClark was cute), and even the somewhat less inspired Perez run on the title. If I hadn't I wouldn't have read them.
If they're going to handle the Superman line with incompetence and make the boring Lois and Clark story the main story, well then theyll have lost my Action Comics subscription.
And yes i agree so much, this particular Jimmy/Clark friendship has been great and really the supporting cast that Pak built up was pretty unique with the Underground allies, Lana and Steel, Jimmy, Wonder Woman even the hacker girl that Yang introduced was pretty cool. I mean it was a pretty great supporting cast even if it only bears a slight resemblence to the classic. I just hope that all of what Pak/Johns/Yang built isnt flushed by Tomasi and Jurgens in favor of a more "classic" orientation but that's my biggest fear.
Doctor Bifrost

Well, if they are going to restart the story, then tell me straight up. I liked New 52, but I still would have liked it anyways, probably more if they just told me it's Superman but with his story reset, and a younger guy who hasn't owned his rogues gallery yet among other things.
I'm starting to believe superman is a broken character.
It's funny, the Super Sons book is the one I will absolutely not be reading or subscribing to under any circumstances. I have no interest whatsoever in pre-teen children fighting monsters, aliens, and armed criminals. Superman encouraging or allowing his son to go in that direction at such a young age is bad parenting to the point where people ought to be calling child protective services within that fictional world (I don't know what CPS person would be able to take on Superman, but you know what I'm saying...). It hurts the Superman character, who has always tried to protect children and keep them safe. It's also just a book I'd have no interest in reading even if it were perfectly good parenting. I just don't want to read about the adventures of kids. No interest.
I might come around on some of the other books, but not that one. That's a definite no way for me. My prediction is that it'll be a "critically acclaimed" book with very loud supporters, but that it'll sell like shit and they'll have to can it within a year or two of it's debut, unless Geoff Johns is allowed to have "pet books" that he just keeps around regardless of sales because he likes them. A few people will very vocally support it, but the majority of people will quietly not buy it.
