I think with the release of Suicide Squad, Diablos profile and popularity will definitely go up. What do you guys think? He just has really cool powers and a decent look...

Depends on how you do the math. I say he has the most potential. Diablo has a classic powerset and unique look but he is a former gang hitman not the best option to push. Plus he is down in the pecking order. Renee is in Gotham no one cares. Does she do much in that show? I don't watch it. I say Vibe number one right now since Flash has the most buzz of the DC Shows. To my mind Blue Beetle is Cyborg done right. Plus Blue Beetle is in the more Iron Man mold which has proven popular. Cool and versatile powerset are pluses.

In the comics, definitely. In other media, its probably El Disblo or Vibe. Jaime has been in more animation, Brave & the Bold, Young Justice, and JL vs TT. But his only live action appearance was on Smallville, which people pretty much forgot about as soon as it wrapped up.

Jaime also has more video game appearances than all the other Latinos. All he is missing is a live action version. I think Blue Beetle is the top Latino and one of DC's top minority heroes in general. Give him a few more years and watch him become a top character at DC (all the potential is there honestly). He has solid mythos, a solid supporting cast and a very cool power set.

I'd put Jaime above Vibe, Diablo and Renee honestly.

Hmm I guess you do have a point. El Diablo is appearing in Suicide Squad next month and from what I've seen, he's sure to be a hit with audiences. He has cool powers and is the most heroic of the squad judging by the fact that he turned himself in voluntarily. Vibe also seems to be doing great on The Flash and has been used well. But i don't think that's helped much since DC isn't pushing them consistently in the comics or animation like they have Jaime and Renee to a lesser extent. Also most likely Jaime will be appearing in another videogame (by my count his 6th one and definitely biggest)

I guess it's up to DC to determine that. Like I said above Jaime has been the most consistently pushed Latino character in comics and in outside media. I think it's great that Vibe and Diablo are also getting pushed. Hopefully it's consistent and they are pushed in comics and animation as well because thats how you make a character popular. As for Renee, I think she is just a supporting character. No idea how big her role is because i don't watch Gotham. I do believe thats her live action debut though.

Im crossing my fingers for Kyle, Fire, Kendra and Jessica.

I don't think Diablo will be bad by any means but the backstory is a problem. Plus there is kinda of a glass ceiling for him. He is not going past Harley and Deadshot. Highest he can get is third. Not counting Joker since he is not on the team.

Vibe is good but DC is weird on TV Show and Movie Interaction. Although Superman to Supergirl hints at a loosening of controls. And it was Johns that established him as a counter to The Flash so not bad.

I am not the best to comment on Jessica. I don't like her for very specific reasons that have little to do with the character and everything to do with Geoff Johns.

Kyle, WB is pretty gun shy on GL. And DC just does not no what to do with him.

So yeah I still think Reyes as Blue Beetle has the best chance. He is Ironmanesque and that is a good thing in this market.

In terms of comicbook appearances Kyle Rayner is at the top of the list, which doesn't surprise me honestly. Then you have Bane, followed by Renee Montoya and Fire. Blue Beetle comes in 5th. Interestingly the other Latinos all have under 200 comic appearances (Vibe is at 186). Kendra doesn't count as I couldn't find any information on her as all her appearances are listed under Hawkgirl. Bunker and Jessica are newer characters so their placing makes sense. I hope DC continues to use their Latino characters.

    1)Kyle Rayner~ 1,313
    2)Bane~ 612
    3)Renee Montoya~ 533
    4)Fire~ 496
    5)Blue Beetle~ 425

Vibe(186), Pantha(116), Aquagirl(106), Bunker(103), Black Orchid (73), El Diablo(71), Aztek (49), Jessica(33). Characters that have been in comic limbo for forever fare well: Gangbuster(128), Yolanda Montes (113).

This is Black Orchid (Alba Garcia) by the way. I wonder what her chances of appearing in that animated JLD movie are? Hopefully she'll be used.

i really have a feeling that El Diablo has a pretty small role in the Suicide Squad movie. i don't think WB was expecting as much excitement as was generated by his appearance. maybe the social media buzz about the character took them by surprise. they even made him a pretty big part of the last trailer. which may have featured all his scenes . i hope i'm wrong. it's about time that studios realize that the hispanic population is the fast growing demographic in the US. hopefully this leads to more hispanic characters in superhero movies.

Judging by this (the rest are in the Suicide Squad appreciation thread) El Diablo is going to probably be the most heroic of the squad. I mean he voluntarily turned himself in and judging from the trailers he is hesitant to use his powers. We'll see how audiences react to him and I hope if it is indeed a positive reaction, like what it seems to be on social media, we'll see more of him and other Latino characters on the big screen. This is something new, a Latino superhero/supervillain.

DC wiki is more accurate when counting appearances.

I wasn't talking about that so much as more I was saying I expect of the SS Characters. People on the team. Deadshot and Harley are definitely King and Queen.

I did like his scene with Deadshot.

But my point is more with for instance the JL, The Trinity will always be the Trinity. Doesn't matter how good say Cyborg is he aint moving in the pecking order past Bats, Supes and Wondie.

Granted I don't think he will be totally throwaway. That is what slipknot is for.

i wouldn't be surprised if he heroically sacrifices himself for the team. but he's a supernatural character so even if he dies they can probably just resurrect him if they want for the sequel. just say that the demon inside of him brought him back.

Thank you for the link and does seem like that site is very accurate. I used comicvine because of how relatively easy it was to find the numbers (they're alredy added up). With Kendra's numbers now known, she comes in at #6, although I'm unsure if she was always a Latina or DC made her one, like Kyle, years later.
