    I enjoyed this issue. I think it has been one of the more consistent X-books since Secret Wars and a lot of that has to do with Cullen Bunn. He's basically ignoring a lot of the stuff that happened between the end of the Dark Angel Saga and the end of Secret Wars. That's probably for the best because I don't think anyone handled Psylocke, Angel, or the aftermath of the Dark Angel Saga all that well. Sometimes it's okay to just ignore certain kinds of baggage. This is definitely one of those times.

    I like how Bunn is exploring the heartache that Psylocke feels over Angel. Looking into his mind and remembering what happened with them was a nice homage to a relationship that doesn't get nearly as much credit as it deserves. It offers a nice catalyst and dramatic backdrop for Apocalypse Wars. It still has a ways to go, but the ending left me very much intrigued. Bunn has proven that he has a great feel for these characters and this style of X-book. That makes him uniquely equipped for a story like Apocalypse Wars.

    I did a full review of this book on my blog. If it's okay with the mods, here's a link.

    literally anyone can show up, dead or not - powered or depowered - with a clean slate. i hope we get powered dani back with no explanation as well! i'd like to see her on magneto's team.

    or possibly even synch. his rainbow aura would come in very handy these days.

    Jubilee has only shown up in Squirrel Girl so far, right? Maybe we can handwave that as dubious canonicity and Jubes can still show up in the X-Books repowered and de-vamped.

    Good stuff from Bunn so far. No complaints.
    Jean loves me this I know because the church says it so.

    Havok and Emma were right.

    I'm loving this Volume of Uncanny X-Men. I haven't been excited about a core X book in probably 20 years. However, this one has me hooked. It's my first read each week it comes out. This is the type of X-men stories I fell in love with back in the 80s. Great work, Mr. Bunn. I hope your run on Uncanny lasts years.

    Another great Issue of Uncanny really liking almost everything about the book but i do have one small complaint/fear I really hope this love intrest Bunn has in mind for Sabretooth is not Monet I really don't think they would be a good match it would even more contrived than all those hookups he's had with Mystique over the years even though he should hate her guts after all the times shes betrayed and nearly killed him

    4/5 for this issue I enjoyed it greatly, it was about as good as a set-up issue can be. Bunn has a great feeling of balance between his different stories, the heavy emotional and contemplative stuff is between Magneto, Psylocke and Archangel while Sabretooth and Monet bring banter flirting and action. Then the Mystique and Fantomex stuff with Magneto's involvement is like a big question mark. I am so intrigued where Bunn takes all of it. Callisto! Morlocks! This feels like X-Men to me, and I love that Bunn didn't have to press the reset button.

    I was a big fan of Paco Medina's pages, they looked like old photographs. Which made it more sad when Betsy told Erik Warren's story, starting with how Angel could bring hope and optimism. Now Nu Angel is being recruited as some kind of false prophet! And meanwhile Archangel as a drone is no better. I think we will only get a resolution when the two Angels become one and whole. I am interested to see what powers are retained from which regimes if that happens. The tense respect between Magneto and Psylocke is cool, Betsy has really grown in stature over the course of past X books.

    My only complaint is I thought that the dynamic between Sabretooth and Callisto was a little off, but I have a feeling there will be more to come.

    Thanks also to Bunn for making me want to read the other X-books for the Apocalypse wars!

    Ken Lashley did the Archangel story pages. Medina did the media/Xorn story. Both were beautiful.

    Let's not do anything rash now...

    My bad! But the art was great in the whole thing, no complaints

    Hahah! I think things have been worse, so while the other books are not great I will read them given that I am reading X-books at all right now. I like Kid Apocalypse in truth and I like the differences between Storm and Magneto. As for the kiddos it's all nostalgia but I'm not above it

    No, not so. If not for the EinC, we probably wouldn't have the X-Men at all. And Marvel has been pretty good at maintaining continuity the last few years, all things considered. The few egregious retcons and alterations to fit the cinematic universe and/or to punish FOX were ordered from higher up the executive chain-of-command. I think he's on our side!

    As for Callisto, I'm happy to see her back in true form. When it comes to sudden changes in mutant status (powered, non-powered, no longer mutant, now Inhuman, whatever), we just have to do what X-fans have always done, wait for the the explanation to appear on panel, ask the editors via X-Position or on Twitter or Tumblr, or make up our own explanation (the "no prize" solution) while we're waiting for official word.

    I'd really like it if Marvel took the Occan's Razor approach and established that Wanda's Decimation spell wore off and all mutants regained their powers. Only to be zapped by the Terrigan Mist cloud. Kinda like getting out of the way of rampaging bus only to be hit by an oncoming car. That way writers could bring back whichever characters they wanted, fully powered, or they could declare a character MIA.

    Land / Ramos are still way above the art this issue. Everyone was posed way stiff.

    Do not worry I am a bit of a joker although the statement is sadly a double edged sword. If the writer can not properly wield the truth of the statement they will inevitably end up cutting themselves depending on what sort of continuity a writer chooses to accept and what to reject. Just my two cents.

    Now moving on to what happened this issue. After reading it I surprisingly got a couple of chills down my spine when it came to the Archangel Storyline. This is a tiny bit of speculation that I have not yet heard being discussed due to my grim perspective of how I read the story. This is probably coming for my love of the horror genre and being familiar with Cullen Bunn writing said genre in his own works. Of course I could be wrong when next issue surfaces next month but I will put my chips on the table regardless just for the fun of it. Now to discuss the key points of what made this part of the issue a bit uncomfortable for me.

    * Green Ridge, Colorado.
    Although we only get a brief glimpse of the town and the horror to befall it quite soon, there is something not quite right. On the outside the town appears to some sort of Utopia, or at least a perfect model of a white picket fence sort of town. The residents themselves aren't any better due to the fact that Betsy cannot properly read their thoughts. When she does try all she obtains are fragments of Religious Sermons which makes me wonder if these individuals are brainwashed or been mentally conditioned to be the perfect citizen, neighbor, Husband, friend, and so forth. It is obvious that they cannot be influenced by outside decision due to betsy's remark of them being resistant to Psychic Probes. It does make me wonder if they have any autonomy at all or if they are just mindless lambs following their Shepard which brings me to the second part.

    * NuAngel.
    Considering the way NuAngel was written in Aaron's WATXM this is a natural progression of his character. The guy was delusional is his belief of being an actual Angel as well as being Christian's god biggest Fan Boy. It is uncertain whether or not he is being manipulated by outside forces but my thinking leads me to believe that NuAngel is some sort of religious cult leader either intentionally or not. Whether this is good or bad we have to wait for next issue if this part of my speculation is true. We do know that the Dark Riders were targeting healers for a purpose which leaves me curious as to NuAngel's role here. It is quite understandable that NuAngel has been doing this for quite a while even though his outfit has those bloody gashes on his back as if they were recent. It is probably just for show or religious symbolism. The way crowd cheers and seems to worship NuAngel is a bit unsettling as he seems to be actually enjoying it before he presents himself to the crowd. I don't know if it is a bit too early to call Jim Jones on this. This part does however remind me of that Tree House of Horror V episode called Time and Punishment where Homer enters an alternate reality where Ned Flanders becomes a Benevolent Dictator and controls the thoughts and feelings of his citizens through his re-neducation center. Whether or not it will be something similar, we have yet to see next month.

    Agree with me, Disagree, or partially agree I am just offering a different perspective of what I read. Hopefully this adds a bit more of a discussion on the table.
    I come when there's something to take but I never give anything back.
    I know what you want. But it is not here. It's gone and it will never ever come again...

    Hands down the best x-book currently on the stands and it's not particularly close imo. I argue it's one of the top ANAD marvel books. I say this not being a particularly huge fan of any of these characters, but it's written so well, I am developing a legit interest in all of them. I gave this a shot due to Bullen's increasingly solid rep. I really enjoyed his Sinestro run(which is sadly about to come to an end) and I am enjoying this book so far. Hope it stays as solid as it has been. I'm also digging mags' new outfit.

    Wonder is Bunn will take it a step further and have NuAngel actually be an angel of god, or the Judeo-Christian God. Keep his mutant status but maybe up the ante. Also, I'm staring to warm up to Vic and Monet being together. Hope Bunn isn't just teasing us and they can actually become a couple.
