Roy Thomas still writes the daily strips right? (even though Stan is credited, I hear that's just for show), my heart wants to go with him since the dailes have been better than the regular books for years, but DeMatties gets my pick for the most influential stories of my youth. Stern and DeFalco are second and third, with JMS at four.
DeMatteis. Though I actually think his Spectacular run was better.
Dan Slott followed by JMS.
I enjoyed the way JMS and Stern chronicled my adventures and would prefer if Bendis just quit comics and write for the young adults section that he clearly seems to try shoehorn into everything else he writes.
JMS is my favorite hands down then Peter David(I know he created Spidey 2099) plus Stan Lee.
Slott. Completely flawless.
So many legit legends to pick from makes this completely impossible to do, CBR. Sorry.
I will say that I absolutely love Slott and his writing in general, and will follow him on whatever book he does and wish I could twist his arm in somehow convincing him to convince Marvel to bring back and allow him to do a Nova (Richard Rider) ongoing. >_>
I like how they said "besides Stan Lee".
Slott's as good a choice as any
Stern. David Michelinie in close second. Also have a soft spot for PAD.
Peace
Slott and Stern.... cant make the call on whos better.
Sorry. Can't do it.
They're like Lay's potato chips. I can't pick just one.
JMS. He really nailed the attitude and actually made effort to make the character grow and be different. Will always love that run.
This is what makes JMS my pick, too -- more than any other writer, I feel like he really gave Peter a chance to develop into an adult. With that particular characterization, it finally made sense to give the character a prominent spot on an Avengers team, because he'd come into his own enough to earn it.
I have to go with Michelinie, even though the last quarter or so of his run was completely marred.
Yes, PAD is the greatest Spider-man writer of all time, but I'm not sure how people are picking him here when he only wrote like 2 issues of Amazing his whole career.
