Default OT: If you could make one video game into a movie, what would it be?

You are given final approval by a major film studio to produce a live action adaptation of a video game of your choice. Here are the rules:

    - You get a budget of $100,000,000, to spend on casting, special effects, etc as you see fit. That is your spending limit, you do not have to spend all of it, though whatever you don't spend obviously goes back to the studio.
    - You may cast anyone you wish for the film, as well as pick your own writer and director, etc, as long as you manage to stay within the 100 mil spending limit
    - The movie needs to make money. At least clear a healthy profit, especially if you want to do a sequel.
    - There are potentially thousands of angry nerds that are ready to make your life a hell if you screw this up.

    And... go!

Metroid. Make it something between Iron Man and Aliens, have the special effects crew behind District 9 design the Chozo and Space Pirates, as well as Boss level setpiece battles.

Make it a story about Samus investigating a privately owned space/land based research facility that the government thinks is illegally excavating Chozo ruins for Metroid DNA, and it ends up with her having to plow through their private security forces (read: mercenaries) and agents from hidden government factions who were going to buy said DNA and designer Metroids off of them, as well as invading Space Pirate forces.

Major battles will be against a military-grade mech using illegal tech, Ridley armed with hijacked Metroid-based weaponry, and some sort of Metroid-based swarm that will eventually blow up and destroy both stations at once, somehow, rendering the planet even more uninhabitable than it already is.

Maybe Gwendolyn Christie or some other tall and Amazonian blonde as Samus. Not sure who the best directory for this would be, but I'm vacillating between Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan. Dunno who the best screenwriter for this type of project would be, though.

Nothing says the movie has to be live-action, so animated will probably be the best for any more esoteric games.

    Dark Souls.

The games are treasure troves of story-telling. Also, horrifying.

I want all of that. Just don't forget to tease Kraid and Mother Brain for a potential sequel.

Any Star Wars game of the Old Republic-Era.
best Star Wars-Era ever, would put the rest of the movies to shame.

Panzer Dragoon series from the Sega Saturn.
    Perfect for Zack Snyder's style.
Do the first one and Zwei as one movie.
This movie would be weird but cool.
If successful do a mini series for Saga.
This series would be funny, dark, sad, scary and a visual feast.

Pac-Man: a tale about a lone man fighting the ghosts of his past and his drug addiction.

Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Michael Fassbender...

Or Mass Effect. I'd love a Mass Effect movie.

Devil May Cry. Basically just start with the story from the third game, streamline it (which means having fewer boss fights) and amping up some of the story elements (probably have some flash backs to Dante and Vergil's childhood).

Caraba that image of Pac-man is what I needed to see today. Oh man how screwed up that is.

Back to topic. If I had to make one choice for a movie it would be Goemon ( Whoops somebody already made like a dozen of those ).

I can't really say because of the socialist nature of this form being manipulated by saggy, Bulma wearing, hoof clad, glamazons.

I am sold on the Metroid, Pac Man, and Panzer Dragoon mentions.

I would not mind a armored core, or Eternal Darkness movie.

Morrowind would make a good movie (main quest only probably, though throwing in a faction could fill it out).

Some of the GTA titles would make pretty streamlined action movies.

    Marathon would be pretty good.

Dark Forces (though it seems like Rogue One is basically that)

The Secret of Monkey Island (complete with voiceover to represent the text)

    Zork
