tho I admit, I never have understood the "giant boot" that Capullo likes to draw. How the hell does he move in it (never mind jump around so much).

I would say that watching the animated series (it's on Youtube) would answer most questions about the backstory.

Todd McFarlane has said that the Spawn Resurrection #1 one-shot is designed in a way to bring newcomers up to speed before the new direction starts with #251.

So I'd say if you don't want to crash course 200+ issues beforehand (which would be daunting and entirely understandable), start with that when it comes out. If you like what you're reading after the new team takes over and are interested in exploring more, then you can start going back through the various collections that are available -- although not everything has been collected yet -- and catch up at your own speed.

Commando Spawn action figure was an all time personal classic of mines.

Still can't call it a knock off. That's like calling all of Liefeld's Cable look a likes a knock off as well when that isn't the case.

I understand what your're saying. It shouldn't be considered a knockoff since the same guy originally created the real deal. Still, Rob Liefeld made similar versions of his original characters after he left to form Image. Still, it's safe to say that Youngblood was a cheap knock off of Fantastic Four and the Avengers since Rob didn't create either of these Marvel superhero teams. I just wish Rob could have created much more in depth and original storylines for Youngblood to separate them From the Marvel characters he created/imitate.

I'd love to see Mcfarlane ink over the new artist. Myer's clear line style would be a great jumping point for Mcfarlane's inking style.
