As an ignorant American, can anyone tell me if Britain and France still have a 'thing'? I ask because I've watched movies like Yellowbeard.

The lack of psychic abilities and time travel of "Project Fear" is exposed.

They'll probably still have a thing after the bombs have dropped and mutated cockroaches rule the earth.

Now I wonder which cultural stereotypes they will have adopted and am imagining giant mutated roach-people wearing berets and acting snooty at similarly grotesque roach people enjoying a nice cup of tea.

Thanks for the pleasant mental imagery

A rivalry mixed in with an at least mild distaste/disgust for the other, or something like 2 people who really don't like each other at a family reunion and have to keep it civil.

Partly yes. We also have a grudging admiration for their militant electorate. I suspect the French would leave the EU if they get a referendum.

As a people, the French are great and usually very easy to get on with...
The French government however are the most ungrateful bunch of surrender monkeys that we could have as our neighbour.

Europeans and Americans don't want the Middle East to move to them any more than they want to move to the Middle East. And they resent their elites scorning them as immoral for feeling that way about it, while all the while the elites make sure that they live far away from the immigrants.

    It's as simple as that.

The 'middle east' isn't moving to them. Some people from the middle east are, though, even if they're a relatively small percentage of the number of total immigrants. I'm not sure it's quite as simple as you'd like to pretend.

Yes. Not all cultures are compatible or assimilate well, and there's nothing wrong with the British people wanting to preserve theirs.
