Fox has officially begun its Oscar campaign for Logan.
I'd say at the very least it should get noms for:
Picture
Actor - Jackman
Supporting Actor - Stewart
Supporting Actress - Keen
Cinematography
Production Design

I fully support this effort. If ever a superhero movie deserved Oscar consideration, it's Logan. It had drama, heart, loss, and everything in between. It wasn't too flashy with CGI. It introduced a new actress in Dafne Keen. It checks all the right boxes, in terms of a complete story. It doesn't feel like a superhero movie as much as it does the culmination of a long struggle. So many Oscar-winning movies have been built on that premise. I think Logan can finally break through, in that respect. Besides, who wouldn't want to see Jackman and Keen at the Oscars?

Mangold has posted links to the Logan screenplay.
One thing of note is they described Caliban as being in his 60s, which actually works with the Caliban we see in Apocalypse (even though Merchant is about the same age as ApocaBan, the makeup job and his hunched posture DOES help him look significantly older).
Logan Kill Counter
Pretty flattering write up about the Logan Oscar nod.
