Default does the sun ever shine in gotham?

i swear it's like the city has a major problem with pollution which doesn't make any sense when in some media Metropolis is so damn close to it and yet Metropolis seems to be far cleaner and better looking while gotham's always gloomy and dark

Those yellow skies and blue moons, with Batman swinging across the skyline?

That is daytime. Gotham's got the worst pollution on the Earth. Smoke crater Coast City had cleaner emissions.

There have been stories with Ivy needing sunlight too (Cast Shadows, Songs of the Sirens in Gotham City Sirens).

It`s just a visual thing but it hilariously contributes to keep musing why would anyone still want to live there. My asnwer is because the citizens are kkkrazy for living Noir. They probably start their days with a detective monologue on the way to work.

It's actually been raining continuously in Gotham for 27 years, 4 months, 2 weeks and 4 days. So no sunshine.

Sometimes it rains bees too. Gotham is kind of unpleasant.

Poison Ivy's killer plants soak up a lot of it and the sewers are seriously spacious.

Gotham's a series of islands. Great drainage. It all runs off into the sea. Except for around Wayne Manor where it all trickles down into the lower cave system. Fortunately Bruce built the Batcave above the high water mark.
