Really? You were put off by a superhero mouthing off to a politician trying to make himself look important while media video was running 24/7 accurately depicting heroes preventing a major enemy offensive of getting even one civilian casualty? You were put off by Natasha figuratively slapping the idiot upside the head with the equivalent of a "Hey moron! Wake up! We're on the same freaking side! Figure it out!"?

I personally loved it, because she was right. Hydra had fooled them all, spies and government oversight alike. The only way forward was together and she made that point perfectly clear.
Amount of carnage which was Disneyfied. Yep.

And the point she made wasn't "we're on the same side" -- it was "you won't doing anything to us because you need us" -- which is very Oliver North-ish.

I guess I shouldn't mention "Dance off bro!!" also being a scene that pretty much undermined a movie for me. Ronan's stupidity at that point is just incredible. I mean, his whole spiel at the end with this weak water metaphor of religious zealotry was bad enough. But the standing there while Star-lord "distracts" him is an inane ending to what is otherwise a pretty good film.

I'm tired of the Marvel movies hand waving away the issues concerning consequences of their actions. I've no faith Civil War will be better given that Thunderbolt-I-attacked-the-Hulk-on-a-university-campus-Ross is the one lecturing Cap and company on responsibility.
this is like 50% of the plot of CW lol????

I swear man, people really want 5 minutes of action and then 2 hours of congress hearings talking about action in their movies. The constant "destruction!" complaints in comic book movies are tiring

I understood the ending to No Country for Old Men but still thought it was... lacking incredibly.

The Last Twilight Movie... I was actually all about the vampire fight carnage. Was like "whoa, this series went from boring AF 0/10 to "ok, vampire deaths!" 3/10"

and then it was a dream sequence. Didn't think I could be any more saddened by those movies until then.

And before the "why did you watch them all then!"... I have a wife who read the books in college lol

Oh no, you don't get to compare a Fincher masterpiece/classic to a 2nd rate Stephen King short story adaption (that's like comparing HEAT and Fast and the Furious)

LONE RANGER it was much better than expected but that final trainride action scene with Zimmer's worst score ever? The movie started on a high note, entertained throughout and totally crashed for me there.

Well, I saw three ships being blown up over SHIELD headquarters. We then see one of those ships crashing into SHIELD headquarters itself. The other two? Well, considering they were also directly over the SHIELD complex that they were built and housed in, likely landed somewhere on the complex or in the forested area around the facility.

It wasn't like this was happening in a heavily populated portion of the city. The SHIELD complex was fairly isolated from the rest of the city.

It was both. The idiot politician was trying to score political points by trying to make a superhero bow to him in apology and it backfired by her telling the truth: a) that Cap and friends had stopped millions of innocents from being killed, b) that they, politicians and spies alike, were all fooled by Hydra, and c) that Cap and friends, the very people who stopped the terrorist attack, were still the best ones capable of defending the country, and d) if he really wanted to damage his political career any more than he already had, then she was willing to be arrested and exonerated both in the court of public opinion and in a court of law.

Honestly, we could use more courage like this in the real world.

I actually found the "dance off" plausible, because it was distracting. Seriously, why would someone just start singing and dancing before being killed? It threw Ronan, and everybody else watching too, off for just long enough. Plus, it fit the tone of the film perfectly. Of course, I could just as easily see Ronan recovering far sooner than Starlord expects and destroying the planet before Rocket is ready, but given how the movie was shot, I was fine with how the "dance off" part went. The problem I had with the GotG ending was the kumbaya handholding we can overcome the power of the infinity stone by all working together and win resolution.

That's whole big set piece is the best part of that whole movie.

I didn't say people that don't like the ending don't understand the ending. I said people that don't think there is a ending probably don't get the movie itself at all.

Regarding Connery and Skyfall-we do have Connery to thank somewhat for the Scottish finale in the first place-Although initially not too pleased with the casting (Connery by the point he started doing Bond had been mostly known for small roles, modeling, and musicals), Bond's creator Ian Fleming warmed to the portrayal when he saw the films, and included Bond's Scottish ancestry in his last few books as a nod to Connery.

However, as for Connery in Skyfall, Connery pretty much quit acting over a decade ago with the exception of two voice over roles (Bond one last time for the From Russia With Love video game, and the weird Sir Billi/Guardian of the Highlands CGI movie). I think in part it was due to his bad experiences on the set of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen that prompted his retirement (Plus he's always been fairly difficult to work with anyway). He was also offered to return as Indy's father in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull but refused (due to his retirement) It's speculated by some that the Harold Oxley role was originally meant for him (as Henry Jones sr).

As for Brosnan as Silva, I doubt that would have worked out anyway. Pierce wasn't too pleased that he was kind of fired so they could reboot and cast Craig, so he probably wouldn't be too happy working for the producers again.

Here's the thing. If you can't get Connery, then you just remove that character. I can totally understand them not being able to get the guy in the movie, but that character seemingly only exist so Connery can play him. There's only anything with that character if it's Connery, it's only fun to see him in an action scene with Connery. Without Connery the character shouldn't be there, that car (with guns in it) shouldn't just randomly be a thing Bond has, and the location they go to could just be anywhere.

I'm pretty sure Connery has said before he quit acting because of LXG.

Same kind of thing with Brosnan. You can't get the guy to come back, that's totally fine, but then don't make the character feel like he's basically one big giant reference to Brosnan Bond, and how Eon left him behind. And if you don't have Brosnan to instantly fill in the relationship between Silva and M, then the character needs a major rewrite anyways. Because as the movie is, all that history is something you never feel, which is a huge problem given that's what the whole thing is about. The movie actually feels like Brosnan was meant to play that character, and just seeing him would fill in everything that isn't actually there in the movie.

That movie was really ruined by the ending for me:

    - In addition to all the damage and them blowing off the government at the end. They did a bunch of things without repercussion like:
    - Just putting out all of the SHIELD stuff out on the internet. Never mind that there might be things like undercover agents you just exposed, or that villains will now get a handle on the same information, or risking other operations that might have actually been doing good.
    - The Hydra "ultimate plan" was insipid--it was very Cobra Commander'esque. Even without Captain America and company there I don't think it would have worked in the Marvel Universe. (Or even the real world where we shoot the thing down the minute it entered our air space)
    - It does look like the Bucky thing will get followed up on so I'm less annoyed about that now. But the end of that movie left me going "WTF?!?!?"

Anyway, other movies I didn't like due to the ending was Fight Club (doesn't make sense after thinking about it) and Reservoir Dogs. (Just because the most annoying character was the one who gets away at the end)

Good points about Cap, Cap 2 and Django.

Holly crap the ending of Django kept going on and on and on. As an entertainer there's a way to leave the stage and leaving the audience wanting for more. QT did the opposite, kept hammering you over the head and on and on. I think he did it better in Hateful 8. All in all though it's safe to say that QT is a sadistic bastard.

Cap, even before the movie, I had this image in my mind of the ending and it was exactly like the end of Ultimates #1 where Cap falls into the ice and you hear the voice of the girlfriend who is reading a letter she gave to Cap. Then boom you awake him in the Avengers just like Avengers issue #4. The way they did this with the whole ship and how they woke up in the present time by Fury was just awkward and pointless. I knew right there and then that while I would like the Marvel movies, they would never be great.

Winter Soldiers is almost flawless until the end where it becomes destruction porn a la Man of Steel. It was disappointing from a Marvel standpoint, I thought they were above this but no.
