I know most are joking around, but even with the re-adjustment it hits top5

Definitely a great movie, I wonder where it'll go after this.

Disney was hoping for an opening of $175 million so anything beyond that is pure gravy for Disney.

It was $250 million plus another $180 million for marketing.

Yeah the budget for this once was rumored to be high and another reason Feige got control. It didn't shock me it was $250+ million.

Wouldn't read too much into this. It's still going to turn a massive profit for Marvel and Disney. At the end of the day, that's the goal of any movie and Civil War will almost certainly succeed. It has a chance to be the second highest grossing movie of the year after Rogue One. And I think the powers that be are more than happy with that result.

I think word of mouth will allow this movie to reach Avengers-level or IM III level box office receipts. People are going to want to see that airport battle scene a few times, to say nothing of the rest of the movie. While there was maybe a 1/2 hour or so when I was itching for them to get to the big battle, overall it was pretty exciting. From what I understand (having not seen it) BvS did not have as much of an action movie pace as this one did, but of course I am not really in a position to assert that personally.

While Civil War will not be quite as bereft of competition as BvS was during its run, I don't see much cutting into its box-office dominance until Age of Apocalypse comes out. I don't expect to see 60+ % drops in receipts over the next three weekends.

    Should do AoU ish numbers.

This movie will have legs for sure but not Avengers 1 legs. It got too dark towards the end and wasn't as "pure fun" as Avengers was.

200m was a silly projection anyway. This is MARVEL's longest film undoubtedly gonna play a role. 180 sounds about right. Course anything higher will be great.

I was wondering why I wasn't seeing anywhere near the level of commentary on Civil War's Thursday and Friday domestic gross that I did for BvS. So I looked into it, than I laughed.
