I liked the end. Lots of hints about future events and the vampire plan we saw on 1946-48 and Pickens County Horror (i love that name!). I hope the next BPRD cycle focus on that!
What do you guys think about City of the Dead?
I liked how it tied a lot of these threads together, and the conclusion was good but as a single issue the focus on action over characterization made it a little uneven in places.
I liked the action. The Ra team coming in was very cool. And i liked the foreshadowing.
It seemed to me that Guiresceu was trying to create a world that we see in the Baltimore books.
An alternative time line when the vamp army does rise.
I don't know if that's really a fair critique. The issue didn't rush from action set piece to action set piece, seemingly preferring to get the fight over with quickly in favour of the character sparring between both Edward & Giurescu, Edward & Molohmi, and Edward & the HBR. My one critique would be it seems more like they are trying to queue up future stories rather than giving us a worthwhile conclusion. The very best Mignolavrrse stories are consumable alone, and this one ended on a note that made it seem more like an ongoing than a miniseries.
Was still awesome though.
This was next up on my pile of Mignolaverse tpbs to read. It was pretty damn good! The best Roberson story I've read so far. Ben Stenbeck's art is always fantastic, and Michelle Madsen did a fine job with the color as well.
SPOILER to follow here:
I loved the moment in #5 when the Brotherhood soldiers appeared behind Grey. That was pretty cool.
Now, on to The Visitor...
