Lightbulb How do you end MCU?

Since the main actors/actresses of MCU will not be forever.

How would you like to end MCU as epilogue?

Here's mine as time-skip after battle with Thanos:
    - Stan Lee as the Watcher giving his eyes to Nick Fury
    - Steve Roger as SHIELD/SWORD commander then grow old (super-soldier serum wear out)
    - Thor as king of Asgard, hold one of the infinity stones
    - Vision, since Thanos get the stone he's already dead
    - Hulk as King Maestro in Planet Hulk
    - Tony Stark, governor of futuristic city
    - T'Challa, together with his white-haired wife
    - Bucky, still frozen
    - GOTG, retired, hold one of the infinity stones
    - Dr. Strange, retired, hold one of the infinity stones
... the rest will just retired, perhaps have a family

You don't end it. You take a que from the Walking Dead. Introduce new characters while the originals are still around. When the new ones are accepted and celebrated, you kill of or retire the originals. And you stagger it over time, plus if you don't kill them you can have passing-the-torch cameos.

Don't end MCU. Have MCU the next generation. Bring in Young Avengers, Runaways. Have some characters pass the mantle of their specific hero name.

Someone tries to reverse engineer the infinity stones, this results in nuking the entire universe.

You don't. You recast, add new members, and keep chugging until the well is completely dry.

They aren't going to end it. They're going to ride this baby into the ground until you're wondering what the hell happened.

It would be interesting if they didn't recast rolls, if they just replaced characters with new characters.

It will end eventually when people lose interest. It may take many years, but tastes change and ideas get stale. Eventually new leadership will rotate in who won't have the same magic touch that Feige and Whedon and the Russos, etc. have had. And one day someone will hand an MCU movie over to some hack like Brett Ratner or Zack Snyder, and we'll get our first genuinely crappy MCU movie, and it will all peter out like the original Superman and Batman franchises did.

This thread premise is basically moot since Marvel has said that when the time comes, they will recast and continue on. Considering how well they have done with casting so far, I think that has every probability of working out well. Of course, that depends on how well things go when they recast the first of the major players.

They can recast, reboot or whatever, but the time will come when the public is tired of seeing half a dozen tentpole superhero movies every year. It may take a few years, but it will happen.

There was a time when it looked like westerns would be the big thing forever, but times change.

At this point, there is a better chance the others die off before the one that consistently makes a ton of money and gets good reviews and is backed by a juggernaut

And westerns are a very very specific specific genrea. Superhero movies arent

I would argue that superheroes are a more specific and narrow genre than westerns.

Everything gets played out sooner or later.

Superheroes are far more specific, they don't cover even half the ground that westerns do.

I disagree. Westerns are limited by their genre, whereas Superheros routinely genre jump. So far we have had action films, war films, spy films, heist films, horror films, sci-fi films, fantasy/sci-fi films, and that is just getting going... If anything, superhero films will defy fatigue by continuing to keep things fresh. We now currently have another period/fantasy film coming (WW), and a psychedelic head trip (Doctor Strange) as well as another Sci-Fi Actioner. As long as the films remain entertaining, we will se more and more of them coming down the pike.

Just take a break & reboot with new actors. SUPERMAN RETURNS showed its not a good idea to continue the same continuity for too long. Treat the characters like James Bonds!
