Talking The Silliest Silver Age Moments

What are some of the silliest moments from the Silver Age of Comics?

I think one of the best ones (as in one that made me laugh out loud when I read it) was when the Avengers first encounter Zemo and his Masters of Evil in Avengers #6. We're treated to a hilarious flashback where Zemo had Adhesive X poured on him, resulting in his mask getting glued to his face. As if that wasn't funny enough, during the 20 years he had it stuck he never thought to look for a solution until someone else mentioned it offhand.

Zemo: A solution to Adhesive X! I never thought of that!

"Despite the cover, Superman’s New Power is not to shoot rainbows out of his hands. Instead, radiation from a crashed spaceship saps his normal powers and gives him the ability to shoot a foot-high version of himself out of his hands that has all of his powers. Naturally, Superman quickly becomes jealous of his miniature doppelganger and plots to kill it, but gets his powers back when Li’l Supes sacrifices himself to save Metropolis."

Sounds like a golden (or silver) opportunity for a team-up with Aquaman!

I just found a hilarious recap of a Silver Age tale that involved Mr. Hyde and the Cobra apparently blinding Daredevil, also featuring Matt posing as Mike posing as Daredevil posing as Thor.

As wacky as the story was, though, the art is amazing!

EDIT: I found that story on a best of Daredevil list, recited near-perfectly from memory! http://marvel.com/news/comics/2751/t...t_of_daredevil

Don't know who is the artist I don't want to besmirch him but doesn't spidey look quite small compared to the others?

It's there in the web, juts below the wall that Spidey is clinging to: John Romita.

Well, silly Silver Age moments? How about stealing a rocket, launching it into space without constant telemetry updates, surviving cosmic radiation and then re-entry. Or standing in a nuclear blast and surviving, while being turned into a monster, instead of a pile of ashes?

Okay, that's not as silly as some things; but, comics are filled with silly thing that you accepted as kids.

Now, you want silly? This collection was filled with it:

Thing is, the stories, goofy as they are, are still pretty good. Sometimes, silly works.

    Just ask Mel Brooks.

oh, oops.... I like Romita, he is a brilliant artist but I still think Spidey is a bit small.
Oh well, here is my contribution from one of the Superman daily strips:

the last panel convinced me to buy the daily strip hardcovers
