Without Living Single there would never been Friends

Most people don't know that one

Those two shows didn't really feel anything alike.

How so? It was the exact same plot about friends sharing a building n NY

NBC passed on Latifa's show & a year later premired a version with white actors, Friends

Phoebe is obviously a fake ass Sinclair lol

In that they don't play anything like each other at all. They're both shows about groups of people in New York, and that's about where the similarities end. It's like saying they're both like Seinfeld because that show follows a group of friends living in New York.

One of the criticism of Friends that I have heard is it was just Seinfeld with pretty people. It would probably be more correct to say without Seinfeld there would have been no Friends rather than if there were no Living Single.

Believe it or not, there wouldn't been Friends without Living Single

The similarities aren't as superficial as saying it follows friends in NY like Seinfeld which was clearly about nothing

It's the exact concept with guys living across from the girls: Overton & Kyle turned into Joey and Chandler Khadija became Monica quirky Sinclair quirky Phoebe

NBC passed on LS even though they loved it

They were both produced by Warner Bros

Living Single was on a year before Friends

The president of NBC at the time wanted a show about young people living together

Seinfeld is honestly nothing like Living Single or Friends and the similarities are shallow

The point of Seinfeld is they don't learn lessons. These show were about characters growing together the opposite of SEinfeld

At this point I have to question if anyone making that shallow a comparisons have actually watched the shows or just know of them?
