Default DC Next Dawn - March-April Entries!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, MARCH-APRIL 2024!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    ADVENTURE COMICS #6
    Written by DOUG MOENCH
    Plot by CAPTCLEGHORN
    Art by PAUL GULACY
Doc Savage in THE FORTUNES OF HELL, prologue 1: “FROM HIDALGO WITH LOVE”
Inside his 86th floor offices, Doc Savage has received word of unrest and worry within the land of Hidalgo. Hidalgo is a small central American nation where much of Doc’s wealth resides in gold. Doc’s wealth is a small fraction of the country’s total reserves. The fear is that criminal powers are going to attempt to steal most, if not all, of the gold. As Doc plans to journey to Hidalgo, he is interrupted by a CIA agent, Felix Leiter. Leiter informs Doc that the CIA is aware of both the threat to Hidalgo and at least some of Doc’s status and relation to the country. He also says that the agency is keen to stop any criminal activity and that Doc is welcome to accompany him there. Leiter further says there is an unknown blockade along Hildago’s borders and no one has been able to get into Hidalgo. Impressed by the pilots who have been killed trying to get into Hildago, Doc listens to Leiter’s plan of his pilot, Miss Pussy Galore flying the two of them there.
The trip into Hidalgo itself is a risky adventure, never mind, stopping an unknown criminal mastermind from draining Hildago’s coffers. Doc decides to go with Leiter and Galore hoping his trust in their morality and ability is not misplaced.
By the way, for those of you expecting a James Bond / Doc Savage teamup, the two do actually meet this issue.
To be continued in Amazing Fantasy 49 next month.

Unfortunately, their timing couldn’t have been worse…
Shamballah is under siege! Deimos, the ruthless sorcerer and arch-nemesis of the Warlord, has rallied a horde of lizardmen - and, in a surprise attack, this malevolent force is battering the walls of Skartaris’ capital city!
Shakira knows what is at stake: if Deimos prevails, he will slay Travis Morgan and assume the mantle of Warlord for himself. He will then usher in an age of great darkness for Skartaris… and she can’t allow that! But can she call upon the heroes from the outer world to help her once more? Will Aquaman and the others join her on a quest to strike at Deimos from behind enemy lines? Can the attack be repelled, or is it already too late? Fans should remember her from Hawkgrrl. Also trying to help the Question with the Fellowship is Pagan, the masked vigilante formerly known as Marian Mercer. The situation was seemingly resolved by Vic but then the Fellowship vanished.
In their quest for the truth, Kelley and Mercer end up at the once again existing mansion of Baron Winters outside of Hub City. THE FLASH #56
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    “HONEYMOON TO DIE FOR”
Barry Allen is one of the top forensic scientists in the world. That, combined with his unique experience as the Flash, means there is absolutely nobody more well equipped to investigate the unsolved murder of Barbara Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah. The only problem? Barry is in the middle of his honeymoon with Iris West-Allen! (They got married last issue, remember?). Can the fastest man alive go from a romantic San Durango beach to his crime lab in Central City, and back, without Iris knowing?
Flash Fact: Central City is 5,435 miles from San Durango!
Will Barry be able to enjoy mojitos on a beach blanket when his analysis of non-cheetah hair samples from the crime scene shows a 25% match… to himself! That means the killer is a relative. Maybe a cousin… or a maternal grandparent?
Meanwhile, King Faraday walks into his office at CIA headquarters in Langley Virginia. On his desk, he finds a note.
“Hello, old friend. Now that Vandal Savage is off the board, I’m back in play. And it turns out, there is more than one way to skin a cat.”
    Yours truly,

It is spring and an old man's thoughts turn to buying all the virtual funny books.

ADVENTURE COMICS #6 (I hate characters with guns because needing to flip them for a cover means they become left-handed. Of course Pussy Galore was left-handed or was it Lebanese, before she met Bond. James Bond.)
AQUAMAN #41 (At least Aquaman has the beard. It's a Warlord story, goatees for all, gosh darnit!)
BAT-WING #56 (Having a private jet Uber is a super-power of its own, isn't it?)
CAPTAIN MARVELOUS #9 (Exo the Wonder Dog. 'Nuff said.)
DC NEXT DAWN SPECIAL #1 (Vic is dead.)
THE FLASH #56 (I feel for Barry. One does NOT mess with the honeymoon.)
GREEN LANTERN #56 (Should Hal be using YELLOW mustard?)
JLβ #14 (We're running McWayne, the Crime Vamp by the DCND lawyers.)
THE NEW GEN-ACTIVES #3 (Foes on a shopping trip? Not ... Salespeople on commission?)
UNCANNY G-MEN #37 (With Rainmaker as a member, it's good the Copper Man won't rust. But he might turn green.)
UNCANNY G-MEN: THE ELOI SAGA #2 (LGY: UNCANNY G-MEN #38) (Is civilian infrastructure a waste? Am I going to be faced with deep questions?)
I’ll don the mask and wear the cape
If I am super, how can I wait?

    AQUAMAN #41 — and here I thought Shakira was a She-Wolf!
BAT-WING #56 — gonna go all the way for Singapore!
CAPTAIN MARVELOUS #9 — Bizur-En-Arrh is big brain stuff
DC NEXT DAWN SPECIAL #1 — Dada? When are they gonna fight Avida Dollars?
THE FLASH #56 — in the words of the immortal Tommy Wiseau, “oh hi Mark”
GREEN LANTERN #56 — ah, bring back fond memories of the climax of Madame Web…
    THE NEW GEN-ACTIVES #3 — uh oh!
UNCANNY G-MEN #37 — fun fact, this coordination with New Gen-Actives is almost entirely accidental
UNCANNY G-MEN: THE ELOI SAGA #2 (LGY: UNCANNY G-MEN #38) — I almost named him Diodorus, but Siculus sounded better.

Another month has passed in the dynamic Next Dawn manner, the smoke has cleared from the field of competition, and it is time once again to tally the sales based on YOUR purchases!

As every month, before we get into the units moved, CBR’s DC Next Dawn's editorial staff wishes to sincerely thank everyone who participated in our fan-made solicitation project. Whether you plotted a book, let us know which titles were on your pull list, or just took some of your valuable time to check us out – thank you! This game wouldn’t be anything without you, so if you had fun, tell a friend! The more buys, the better! And best of all, it doesn’t actually cost you anything!

Also, don’t forget to get in on the conversation and all the latest news at the Next Dawn Bullpen!
