At the time? I was a wee kid, and Hawk & Dove were my favorite. Now? Boring answer, but either "Swamp Thing" by Moore or "Justice League" by Giffen & Dematteis.

"History of the DC Universe" by Wolfman and Perez, when the DCU use to make sense.

And JLA/JLE ran for some time in the 90's.
Thanks for that. You're blatantly not as lazy as me.

I was a Marvel Zombie in the 80's but I ended up picking up a lot of great 80's DC stuff later - like "Green Lantern," "Legion of Super-Heroes," and "The Question."

But in terms of regular series, I loved:
    -- Vigilante
-- Doom Patrol (starting with Morrison's run - that was still the 80's right?)
    -- Giffen/DeMatteis "Justice League"

I liked tons of books in the earlier part of the 80's. List is too long but I'll throw a couple out that seem to be off people's radar: Crystar and Alpha Flight.
Glad to see the love from some for the awesome Blue Devil and Firestorm comics.

Whoops, I see why they were off the radar. DC favorites. My bad

    1. 1980 New Teen Titans started when I was 10 and 1st comic book I actually collected! Brilliant storytelling by Wolfman and Perez! Loved all the characters! 1st time I noticed comic art! Perez is still my favorite DC artist Titans weren't the same without him! In 5th grade I drew Titans Tower and T-jet in my notebooks! Wonder Girl got my vote as prettiest female Titan, although Starfire was a BABE and Raven had LEGS! Deathstroke is still my fave Titan villain! Was heartbroken when Dick quit as Robin but learned to love Nightwing!

    2. Perez Wonder Woman, especially when he drew it, too!

    3. Byrne Superman- Not best version of Superman, but Byrne's art kept it entertaining!

    4. JLI- BWAHAHA! Hysterical! Wonderful characterizations! Kevin McGuire BEST facial expressions!

    5. Miller Batman- Dark Knight Returns redefined Batman FOREVER! Batman Year One equally good origin!

The Question by Dennis O'Neil. Although I read it in like 2007. The guy gives a suggested reading list at the end of many issues.

DC Comics Presents was the 80s, too, right? I really, really liked that series.
Retro315 no more. Anonymity is so 2005.
