If he is smart, he will have a Watchmen signing at a local comic shop and bring free pizza for everyone.

His stories have given many people great pleasure. And the standard of his scripts threw a challenge down to other writers, and to some extent raised standards for other gifted writers. I think his influence on comics has been overwhelmingly positive...a few questionable interviews don't really effect the big picture.

Let's take if from perspective of a comics fan wanting to read good comics...then if Alan M is "cursed", some might argue that it's a pity that a few more writers are not similarly afflicted.

I had my tounge firmly in my cheek writing that.

While he's normally very blase about DC (Unless asked), Watchmen is kind of sore spot for him, so I can see him coming out somewhere down the road.

Not that it matter. Alan Moore was a great boon to the comic book culture, but the operative word here is "was". His time is past.

Says who? Just cos he isnt writing the next "earth shattering event" at DC?
He continues to put out stellar work. His current book Providence is up there with the best stuff he's done imo.

It is very good, and is effectively a prequel to Neonomicon which is another great book. His Crossed Plus One Hundred run was one of the best things I have read this year and has launched a fascinating ongoing.

Sometimes you get the feeling he is going through the motions but it never takes long for him to find his stride and produce something interesting and engrossing. Rumours of his demise are greatly exaggerated.

Didn't he say last year (or maybe it was 2014) he was done talking about DC because people get all pissy when he's asked about them?

The same way he reacted on Blackest Night and Before Watchmen.
    And rightfully so.

I can't really agree with this. "Dumb" is a strong word, and I prefer stories that can stand up to a certain amount of thinking-about. They don't have to be perfect to not be dumb.

Some people use phrases like this to dismiss a lot of valid criticism of comic books (and other fantasy).

I use to think we got the stories we deserve. Now I think we get the stories we're willing to put up with.

    But that's just me.

Is it just me, or does DC have a real "notice me, senpai!" mindset toward Moore? Why do they seem so keen on getting his attention in the first place? Who cares if he notices you? Just make comics.

I think its just you. I dont think they made Manhattan an antagonist in Rebirth to get Moore's attention. They probably dont care what he thinks either way. It wasnt done out of want for attention or out of spite. Johns just did it because he could.

Maybe it is just me. But in recent years DC has mined much of his work for stories: Blackest Night was related to a GL story he did, Before Watchmen, the Watchmen-esque/Charlton universe, their revitalized interest in Swamp Thing and Constantine, the constant callbacks to The Killing Joke (which Moore isn't particularly proud of, although I'm personally a big fan of it), and now this. It does seem like Moore's concepts are being used more and more by DCU, but I can appreciate your skepticism, there's no strong evidence that this is anything more than a coincidence. Still, I do see a pattern.
