I know it's too late now, but Sage would've been awesome as an original X-men. She's definitely distinct from Jean Grey at the time. She could've provided a different set of dynamics to the team and not just by adding another female character. She's not the same girl-next-door type that Jean is, but she's not some over-the-top personality like Emma Frost, Wolverine, or even Nightcrawler to some extent. She would've done well as both a student and a spy. I guess we'll never know how it could've worked, but I really like this idea.

I love Sage, and it makes me sad no X-Writer is FEMINIST enough to include her.
I always liked Sage. I hope to see her in X book again.
It's never mentioned because there really is no purpose to mention it. In what use of the term "Original X-Men" would anyone ever want to care to mention her? Maybe if anyone cared about the "Original Secret Super Spy Student of Xavier's". There are countless retcons that people never mention because they usually only ever exist to further a particular story and usually have no historical impact.
Sage and X-Treme X-Men are highly under appreciated.
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

Hmm.
But isn't this story also a retcon that retcons a retcon FURTHER? In the original reveal, in Extreme X-men #4, Xavier obviously found her on the street - and not down in a cave, recently paralyzed by Lucifer.
Anyone know why Claremont chose to change his own story?
Could you have imagined supplemental Sage storylines that ran concurrent with the original Claremont run of Uncanny?? Where we got to see Sage, the Velma of that Scooby clan go evolve from bookish introvert to a young woman ready to sell her soul for Xavier's cause by infiltrating the Hellfire club??? The character having to bite back her disgust as she prepared Sebastian Shaw for his nightly floggings? Ugh, it would have been glorious.
Disgust or Eagerness?
Lame article.
- X-Men's First Appearance was in 1963 and were the creations of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
- Sage's first appearance was in 1980 and was Claremont's Creation.
Bottom Line: Unless Stan himself says it, she wasn't a founding X-Men nor will she ever be
