Talking Happy Birthday Dennis J. "Denny" O'Neil!!!

    Amazing Spider-Man #212 Jan 1981
"The Coming of Hydroman!" First appearance of Hydro-Man.
The adventure with the Sub-Mariner is over! And now the cargo ship with the wall-crawling escort heads back into port.
But before the vessel can dock, a bizarre accident sends a crewmember tumbling overboard near an experimental undersea generator!

    And instantly a new super-villain is born...Hydro-Man!
Shortly thereafter Morrie Bench (aka Hydro-Man) starts settling scores with old enemies across the city! And Spider-Man is on his list!

At high noon atop a NYC office building, Hydro-Man tries to drown the web-slinger!

Does the amazing one need a life jacket?

    Script by Denny O'Neil http://www.comicsreporter.com/index...._dennis_oneil/.
Art by John Romita Jr. (breakdowns) and Jim Mooney (finishes).

    Anybody remember the Grim Hunter?

I liked that guy. I thought he had a pretty cool look, nice backstory, and interesting personality... then they just wasted it all.

This guy on the other hand...

He was a waste of paper. Especially since they couldn't keep his personality constant. He was just another Kraven in some books, a media mongol in others, then a savage wild man. It just kept changing depending on who was writing him.

And Get Kraven is right up there with the worst books Marvel ever published, right between Marville and Trouble.

    Regular Kraven though? He's cool.

I'd like to see him return someday.
    I like the Foreigner.
IMO the character should most certainly appear in Sony's SILVER & BLACK!

That version of Doc Ock looks alot like the one from the animated series:

Here's a pic I stumbled over a while ago that's obviously inspired by Venom: The Enemy Within:

"I should describe my known nature as tripartite, my interests consisting of three parallel and disassociated groups; a) love of the strange and the fantastic, b) love of abstract truth and scientific logic, c) love of the ancient and the permanent. Sundry combinations of these strains will probably account for my...odd tastes, and eccentricities."

Discounting the obvious, Venom and Hobgoblin, there's still Hydro-Man (81'), Tombstone (88'), White Rabbit (83'), Puma (84'), Solo (86'), depending if you count Puma or Solo as foes or not, perhaps just mercenaries, and in minor forms but still out there here-and-there somewhere in Marvel, Chance (85') and Black Fox (84'). Professor Power (83') too, although not pegged as Spidey's today, introduced in Marvel Team-Up, and battled Spidey at least three occasions.

Was always a huge fan of the Spot, guy has an awesome power set. If only he had more self confidence and was not written as a joke. His last appearance was in Jessica Jones where he was just some lackey/lapdog for a regular woman who bossed him around. Someone needs to do right by the Spot.

Mark Waid and Paolo Rivera did a to me GREAT job regarding the supervillain the Spot during their 2011 Daredevil run.
