I went with retconned out of existence: I'd like it to stick around on Earth 2 or some other 'classic'-style Earth, but unless the DCU is finally divorced from pretensions of realism altogether, it shouldn't be part of the background of any sort of modern take on the character.

This should be Dick's first costume.

However, I can't see it being used again. It's should remain behind glass in the Batcave
as a piece of Robin's history.

I'm pretty much in the same boat.

I think it should most definitely be apart of Robin's past. It's a costume that stuck around for decades in the comics, became familiar with anyone who checked out the Adam West series, and thus instantly recognizable to pretty much anyone. Ignoring it completely just comes across as denying the character's past.

Say what you will about Frank Miller/Jim Lee's All Star Batman, but I was glad it was decided to go with Dick Grayson's classic costume rather than going the route of New52 and pretending it never existed. Which they could have easily done.

No child would ever wear that costume. However, there is a sense of nostalgia about it and it should not be removed.

It's classic, but who wants to see it today?

I disagree. The yellow pants are an eyesore. Make them red or green and it's fine.

Leave it in the past, however use it for Dick's flashbacks. Dick's Robin suit is rigorously this one.

I like Dick having a modern costume in the New 52 flashbacks, but in 80s/90s/00s stories I like the old costume in flashbacks.

Retcon out of existence. I always thought it looked ridiculous. No child or teenager would wear something like that. Batman and Robin operate at night so wouldn't you get cold at night with your bare legs out while swinging across rooftops?

Probably was not your intent, but upon reading that I just saw the image of the adult Pre-Crisis Earth-2 Dick Grayson running around in the bare-legs Robin suit...

Bring back the bare legs and panties. Let the Robin embrace their sexuality!

It's the greatest costume in DC Comics history!
Except I don't care for the cape.
    Love the green shoes!
I think the adult Robin should extend the shorts to just above the knee.

But I have mixed feelings about someone other than Dick Grayson wearing
    that costume.
    It just doesn't seem right.

It's so amusing when the costume is drawn in modern art style:

I don't see a good reason to retcon in trousers. This derision of men's legs showing (something generally not extended to women) is an extremely annoying facet of both fiction and reality to me. And don't get me started on the extra-derisive (and totally inaccurate) tendency to use the term "panties." Hell, the entire "it's unmasculine" bugs me (again, IRL, as well, when it comes to shorter shorts, tighter pants, etc.) and that goes hand-in-hand with associating said things with homosexuality (which is also all to often used as an "emasculating" thing). And feminizing being insulting is also annoying.
