Mainstream comics, movies and videogames will all look exactly alike ...

And we talked seriously about Jem being there
I am sad that this didn't seem to make it to the final story lol.

That implies that they won't keep crossing over and influencing each other, which is unlikely: they're not just doing a one-off crossover, they want a "shared universe". In other words, Squirrel Girl is going to keep showing up in Moon Knight and vice versa. It sucks.

I don't understand what's so to understand about this. TFW is through the roof right now over this, but it seems like such a minor thing. 2 of the 3 Transformers books don't even take place on Earth, so it's not that big of a deal.

That's not how any shared universe in comics works.

You will be able to read or not-read the various books in the same way you can read any Marvel or DC or Valiant series and decide to ignore whatever you wish. Some folks will want to read everything, some won't, and those that decide to stick to their respective titles will be just fine.

It's not that complicated. Just read what you like. Don't read what you don't.

In any case, I hope you continue to enjoy the material that IDW puts out over the next year. It's going to be a fantastic ride.

I'll definitely keep my my eyes peeled for this. Sounds interesting enough & IDW puts out enough stellar books. So many comics too little time.

Will G.I. Joe or MASK or Action Man or ROM be showing up in the Transformers books?

Will there be future crossovers central to the Transformers storylines that involve those other properties?

Don't bother answering, because I wouldn't believe anyone at IDW who answers "No" to either of those questions.

Consequently, it won't be a matter of "just don't read MASK" or "just don't read ROM" ... those properties are inevitably going to invade the only one I care about.

If you can't handle a guest appearance once in every 18 issues or so of Transformers I don't know what to tell you. But no, unless Revolution ends with Optimus Prime buying n apartment with ROM and Action Man I wouldn't worry about any "invading."

You know... not too long ago, Ghostbusters crossed over with Transformers. Are they still mixing a lot? Nope. This is not how crossovers work.

This is all nonsensical. It reminds me of the big power plays in media and publishing back in the nineties. This has nothing to do with good stores or universal continuity, and everything to do with gathering together the IP rights to various properties with a view to franchising and leveraging the vague notion of corporate copyright under the "Mickey Mouse Protection Act". I don't see how readers or potential movie audiences will have anything to gain from this recent trend.

If the stories and potential movies turn out to be good, fun, and entertaining, what more do the readers and audiences need?

For those that like Transformers only, keep reading it.
For those that like GI Joe only, keep reading it.
ROM, Action Man and Micronauts will continue as well.
I had the original run of Rom, and the MU made sporadic appearances in the title, I didn't get upset, so I'm not worried. I wasn't worried when Transformers and GI Joe crossed over at anytime during their older books.
Like someone said, the MU is a shared universe, but Squirrel Girl isn't referenced in every single MU title outside of her title and her appearances in an Avengers title.
This isn't like "you got your GI Joe into my ROM, No, you got your ROM into my GI Joe."
It's a 5 issue LS that just means characters will now be seen or referenced in each other's titles, not appearing in every single book every month, just makes the 'universe' bigger with more story telling options.

It actually sounds like it's longer than 5 issues, it just has 5 issues out in September.
