This sounds terrible. I don't buy a lot of comics but I the idea of losing the ones I am is just bad. It honestly sucks. I already lost some books over the years. I feel like as much as they are denying it, this is a sign of what's to come.
I dont put any faith in that rumor but it might not be the worst thing DC did. It'd cut costs considerably, allowing for more resources to be poured into other projects and venues and distributions.
Out of the 60-80ish books they usually publish in a month, how many of those are honestly churning a serious, solid profit, and how many of them are just generating scraps or breaking even? We've been saying (well, some of us have) for years that DC needs to break out of the direct market and expand its reach. The money for that has to come from somewhere.
But I dont believe this is happening.

What would be most disappointing if there's any truth the rumors of a cutback on books, is that the likelihood of any Elseworlds stuff would be basically nonexistent. And I was really hoping for a return to those being commonplace. But no way that happens in such a scenario. 20-something books basically cover the main DCU stuff as it is right now. I'd expect a condensing of the gross output to focus solely on that main continuity. The Walmart stuff would be the only opportunities of differing takes from then on. And as it is those books seem pretty indistinguishable from main canon as it is.

It would certainly be the best and seemingly only chance, indeed. Again, with the major addendum of this being a hypothetical right now.

They look like they improved over December, but they crammed an extra week of titles in the first week of January.
Interested in seeing the Superman and Action numbers.
