My Adventures With Superman Comic Tie-In Announced

My Adventures with Superman fans rise up, and the hit animated show is getting a comic book series! The first issue launches on June 4th and comic shops can put in orders starting March 15th. The series is written by series producer Josie Campbell and drawn by artist Pablo M. Collar. My Adventures with Superman picks up from the explosive end of season one, serving as a bridge to the highly anticipated season two.

“Being the producer of My Adventures with Superman and bringing Clark Kent to TV screens around the world has been nothing but a dream come true for me,” said Campbell. “So I’m absolutely thrilled that Pablo and I get to bring fans even more adventures with Superman, this time in comic book form!”

“This story is one we actually talked about in the writers room, but we didn’t have space for it in season one,” continued Campbell. “So get ready for romance, comedy, super-powers, Jimmy Olsen talking a lot about how he’s super-rich now, and all the goodness of the show bundled into this action-packed miniseries.”

Neat, the Superman Adventures and Smallville Season 11 comic tie-ins were great, hope this is great too. Give me more Jimmy focus, I’d love to see an expansion on the friendship between him and Clark since the romance between Clark and Lois is the focus of the show.

My hunch is that they’re launching this comic around the same time that S2 will drop. If I’m right then we get S2 in June.

Maybe, but the SS game got a comic tie-in and that game flopped hard. However usually the comics drop relatively soon after the source show/game releases, this is coming out waaaay after S1 ended, maybe DC/WB decided to do this after seeing how popular the show is on streaming. Whether MAWS gets to continue or not is probably going to come down to Gunn’s DCU plans more than anything else I imagine.

It does seem like they’re going with another take on Parasite but I’d personally love to see some more Superman villains that the main show might not get to. I doubt we’ll get most of the cosmic baddies for example.

This is the one place where if they want to throw in acknowledgments of the wider DCU with cameos, I’d be fine. BTAS comic tie-in had a long haired Superman show up there that ended up not being canon when they actually made a DCAU Superman for real. Throw MAWS Batman in here and leave him out of the show itself, that’s a compromise I can live with (though I’d rather have Wonder Woman or Martian Manhunter).

Those are definitely Amazo elf ears.

WW1984 got a comic book tie-in.

And Young Justice got a post-season 4 comic mini-series, yet that show never came back.

I feel like comic tie-ins are almost a requisite since most of the animated shows get them. I actually almost overlooked it since I didn't think it would get one due to all the WBD shake-ups. I guess Batman: Caped Crusader could get one too.

Comic book tie-ins just happens for big media projects. Kinda like novelizations of movies.
