It seems to me that they are trying, with this universe wide mystery, to make all titles have significance so that they all in effect "matter". If that is the case then that could mean that even the lowest seller might pull decent numbers. Of course that just speculation on my part.
Its possible that you're right. Its not a bad business model to explore at any rate, but I still question how viable Rebirth is long term. Right now we're all super thrilled to see DC taking so much of the market, but that was going to happen no matter what. A big, highly marketed re-branding with new #1's and costumes and creative teams will always be a big pull initially. But what will sales look like in a year or two, when the dust has settled and everyone has gotten over the hype?

This is the thing that concerns me about DC. There have been major problems behind the scenes for several years now, and Id argue they go back at least a decade. Those problems became apparent during the New52, but they were there before and they're still there now. How much has really changed when the shot-callers are still the same?

I fear this success is a blip on the radar and all too soon DC will be in the same position they were in back during 2009-2010 and 2015. Id feel much more confident in DC if we had new blood in positions of power, instead of the same people who caused many of the problems in the first place.

But time will tell, and right now I can just be happy to see DC doing well again.

Its difficult to say how sales will be in a year or two but I'm just going to be happy about how they are now and hope they stay strong for that length of time. I do see your point though. I wish that DC (and Marvel to be honest) would get some new blood in positions for power. I'd really like to see someone other than Berganza heading up the Superman editorial office for one.

What Ive been doing is looking at Marvel's re-branding efforts to try and get an idea of what to expect here.

Since 2012 Marvel has rolled out a new line-wide re-invention every 18-24 months. I dont follow sales too closely, and Marvel even less closely than DC, but what seems to happen is the line gets a big healthy shot of sales, and then things begin to drop at normal, or slightly higher, attrition rates. After a year and a half to two years sales are roughly back to pre-initiative levels and Marvel does it again.

Given the lack of excitement Marvel NOW 2.0 appears to be generating, it seems that this business model might be running its course and fans are starting to realize that these re-brandings are style over substance, but until NOW 2 really gets going who knows what the figures will actually be.

So between that and the DCYOU, Im guessing we have about a year (dwindling interest in the model plus double shipping) before DC's sales are back to what they were. But Im just guessing. And as you say, right now Im happy to just enjoy the fact that my favorite hero is selling well, even if Im sitting out.

Digitally, Superwoman is performing much better than New Super-Man. It's managed to move up a place above the issue of Action Comics that came out the same week, while New Super-Man quickly dropped below several old issues of Action Comics and Superman on its 2nd week.

Some things about Rebirth surprise me. I hate some Rebirth series, I have a lot of problems with the general concept behind Rebirth and I think that some series are great. But there is one element which can't stop bugging me: it gives me an impression of an incredibly inexpensive event with a very good success. I mean, there are no superstars (except for a couple of names - does Rucka count?). For the most part, the creators are secondary writers and artists, and in a couple of cases (Green Arrow, Green Lantern) they are the very same writers who worked on the very same series before Rebirth. It's a curiously successful operation of rebranding which focused a lot on the editorial strategy rather than the big names.
Educational town, Rolemodel city and Moralofthestory land are the places where good comics go to die.

DC writers and editors looked up and shouted "Save us!"
And Alan Moore looked down and whispered "No."

I'm kinda surprised Snyder didn't want Superman to watch Lois and Bruce conceive their love child. All the while singing the "Na na na na na na Batman!" theme song - Robotman, 03/06/2021

Overall, accounting for both physical and (to the best of our ability) digitally, how is Superman and Action Comics head-to-head? I'm just curious because I personally find Superman to be completely blowing Action Comics out of the water, so I'm curious how the sales reflect there comparatively.
