Keeping track of Post-Rebirth Superman sales

[Last Son of Krypton]

Overall, accounting for both physical and (to the best of our ability) digitally, how is Superman and Action Comics head-to-head? I'm just curious because I personally find Superman to be completely blowing Action Comics out of the water, so I'm curious how the sales reflect there comparatively.

Surprisingly, they've only around 20k physical copies sold of difference (97k vs 75k). For now.
AC seems more stable, each issues sold 75k except for #959 (83k), while SM started at 118k. Still SM is doing better than AC both digitally and physically.

Since it's not being recorded in the lists compiled above, I'd just like to mention that on the actual Comixology list from which the original poster's lists are derived, Justice League of America #9 (Featuring new52 Superman or a close variant in an adventure set in the past), is at #9 (Not a typo, it is actually issue #9 ranked at #9 in comic sales on Comixology, by coincidence) as of what the site is displaying right now on Saturday afternoon.

#9 is pretty good for a comic with a title that has traditionally been associated with poor quality and made fun of (Previous to this actual volume starting with issue #1), and for a book set in the past that has not seen a new issue in many months and where word of cancellation seemed to come down several times. A lot of people don't know that this is out and don't know to look for it. A lot of new52 Superman fans may not have been reading it in the first place because it wasn't a main title and they had at least 4 main titles to follow prior to Rebirth, so they might not even register that their Superman is in this book now, let alone know it's out and to look for it.

This is charting far better from "Lois and Clark", featuring SuperDad in the present without publishing delays, prior to the death of new52 Superman, did.

I think there is still a market for new52 Superman, particularly in combination with certain versions of other cast members. I'm told some of the Superman-Wonder Woman panels in this issue are very popular on Facebook and photo-sharing sites.

Now, that interest may partly be from people who prefer SuperDad and buy up anything Superman, just as some of SuperDad's sales probably come from people who prefer new52 Superman, but buy up anything Superman, but that could certainly be extended to some sort of alternate universe type monthly with new52 Superman (or a main DC universe with two Supermen) that exists side by side with books featuring SuperDad.

A potential new52 monthly that doesn't displace SuperDad in the traditional titles would in theory get all the new52 Superman fans plus some Superman generalists who are just looking for more in addition to the SuperDad titles they buy even if they prefer SuperDad or agnostic. Call it something like "Man of Steel" and put it out once a month, and it could be at least a small-scale winner for DC Comics without disrupting whatever it is they are doing with SuperDad in all the other titles.

Which is why I am sort of hoping if Nuperman isn't revealed as Superdad or his history isn't folded into Superdad's,we find out Nuperman and his Lois were the Superman and Lois Lane of say, a new unrevealed alternative earth plucked from his native universe by Dr Manhattan to replace Superdad as he and Lois were taken by Brainiac prime when Manhattan decided to experiment on the Post FLASHPOINT universe. Then Nuperman returns and after a brief period where we have two Supermen coexisting,in ACTION 1000, Nuperman returns to his native Earth,kicking off a new small line DC books set on this new Earth. I frankly would love to see a return of the old PreCrisis Earth 2 and Earth 1 dynamic. That way readers like yourself that can't abide a Superman with a family get a Superman to call their own and to continue that character and continuity so the last 5 years aren't just written off as being a " fake.". He was always the real Superman. Just one from another Earth.
