Hopefully Man of Steel can at least stay above 60,000 in sales, or else I worry about sales. Though with AC 1001 and Superman 1 bringing relaunches anyway, there are more attempts to come to bring excitement to the franchise.

Testimonials from "Wednesday Warriors" Retailers

The lead-up to the (hopefully) Bat-Wedding is going strong – always good to have an Artgerm cover, too. Man of Steel is picking up steam. Everyone was worried Bendis would ruin Superman and held off until they heard some word-of-mouth, I guess? At any rate, people are starting to pick it up. Justice League is doing like you’d expect a Snyder book to do, although everyone is understandably disappointed that Cheung couldn’t manage to stay on longer.

BATMAN #49 was far and away our best seller this week, thanks to all that wedding lead-up heat. Supes was no slouch either, as MAN OF STEEL #4 fell into the second place spot. Marvel gets in on their own wedding shenanigans with X-MEN GOLD #30 landing in the top half of our list as well.

I wonder how the sales of Superman and Action will look.

Because The Man of Steel 1, sold well, it doesn't matter if it only sold around 70k (around 90 really, but diamond reduces because of returnability), we are talking about a weekly book, at 3.99, with a lot of mistrust and drama behind it. And the issues after are always inside the top 5, again a weekly book at 3.99, featuring Superman only, is constantly in the top 5.

Up to now, people and critics seem to love Bendis's take (which admitedly looks fresh). So I wonder if the main titles will get a bumb and overcome that pesky 50K threshold they are cursed to constantly fall under.

Hopefully Man of Steel can at least stay above 60,000 in sales, or else I worry about sales. Though with AC 1001 and Superman 1 bringing relaunches anyway, there are more attempts to come to bring excitement to the franchise.

I love that we're talking about 60K being a "safe place" for sales to be at. Not too many years ago, the hope of any title hitting 60K at all was pretty damn slim, unless it was a huge anniversary issue or big Event. And now we're just like "yeah, let's hope sales level off at that point so we know the book is turning a solid profit."

Industry is much healthier than it used to be. Still not in the bloom of health, I don't think, but it hasn't looked this strong since before the 90's implosion.
