A regular issue of Action Comics at number 1 with no movie or game or anything out? Not bad at all.

It is impressive, indeed. And deserving of the ranking; Bendis has actually been doing a great job so far.

Like one person in that comment thread, my immediate thought was whether or not some of those private discussions were being leaked, hence the shut down. Its at least a possibility alongside the jumped-to-conclusion that DC just didn't want to see any complaints at all, private or not.

I think she fell down to the 20k’s towards the end of Orlando’s run. No clue where the recent new team’s issue landed, I think it was at the #11 or #12 spot on ComiXology the week it debuted.

Yeah, I meant after the new team took over. Orlando's run is easy to look up but I haven't been able to find where the newer ones rank.

Because the first volume had fallen to not-that-special levels and thus considered worthwhile to let Bendis try his plans with the character. It was deemed worth the temporary loss (and I would tend to agree; it can and probably will come back afterwards, and its not like they were putting the brakes on a top seller, it had fallen below 30k near the end) These numbers will naturally be on the high end though since its a restart, the allure of the new #1 and its only two issues in. Its not really indicative of a poor move by DC. Especially since they specifically decided to revive it with a past narrative format so it can exist while Bendis does his thing. If anything its more indicative of a good move, as restarting it as a miniseries has upped the concept's sales at least temporarily.

Either way once this series is over chances are good it will be revived again as a monthly once Jon's status quo returns to normal. Whenever that will happen. But there's hardly anything questionable about letting their new Superman guy try his thing in the interim at the expense of the first volume.

The low numbers happened after it's cancellation was announced.

Nah, the low numbers happened already before its cancellation was announced.

What Last Son of Krypton said. And even so, I put very little stock that a book's cancelation means its readers flee. That logic has never made sense to me. If a popular book is canceled, they just bail rather than see the ending? That doesn't ring accurate at all.

DC canceled a book on the fringes of mid-to-low performance in favor of their new get's ideas (which thus far are working), but then went out of their way to work things so it could be revived as a miniseries that right now has helped its sales. They did the concept a favor if anything.
