Eh, I really don't need another/alternate ending. Given some time and the workprint version, I thought Alien 3 was a fine ending.

Yeah Pretty much this. Go back to being more Horror/Suspense/Action then Comic Book Wannabe that the last 2 movies were.

Blomkamp needs to go back to doing some smaller films. He has been a downward track since District 9. District 9 > Elyisium > Chappie. He has to prove at this point that he is not a one hit wonder, and it is hard to do that with giant studio films.
