I think it's important that Superman was capable of being friends with Lois Lane, and not just lovers. His relationship with Diana and Lois were totally swapped from the post-Crisis version- post-Crisis Superman had a bit of a crush on Diana when they first met and it never went anywhere; once they got to know each other they became best friends instead. Post-Flashpoint Superman had a bit of a crush on Lois when they first met and it never went anywhere but they ended up being really good friends.
It is a shame that his friendship with Lois wasn't showcased more often, but I really liked it!
I dislike the idea that Superman has a "soulmate" and he can never be romantically involved with anyone else. After how he went out, I don't think I'd ever want post-Flashpoint Superman to wind up with anyone but Diana, and I sure wouldn't want post-Crisis Superman to wind up with anyone but Lois, but the abstract concept of Superman doesn't have to go either way. He could wind up with Maxima, or Lana, Lori Lemaris or Lyla Ler-Rol.
"You know the deal, Metropolis. Treat people right or expect a visit from me."
superman has a soulmate and it is Lois Lane. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Ican't do nothing about it, it is popular culture; new52 didn't erased it.
I don't think new52 added anything on lois and clark friendship, it basically took it out. 'cause she wasn't his best friend anymore, just an auqaitance.
also it was clear that superman had a more than a crush, too bad he was afraid she was gonna "break"
That's not how I remember it. The way I remember it, initially Clark was sort of pining for her and she wasn't giving him the time of day. I don't think he really got over her until he started dating Diana, but in their interactions after that relationship started, he just seemed to regard her as a good friend- which I'll concede (and in fact, already conceded in my previous post) didn't come up often enough.
But they definitely seemed invested in each other's lives, they weren't just acquaintances, even though their friendship wasn't showcased enough. Lois asked him for help when her sister was in danger in her one-shot. Asking Superman for help isn't just confidence in his track record and powers, it's a demonstration of friendship to be able to ask him personally at all. Not to mention the help she gave him during the Psi-War arc. Certainly by the end, he was grateful to her for outing him even though it caused him a lot of strife. I think that also indicates quite a level of trust. "Thank you for doing this thing that hurt me, because you did it for all the right reasons and it ultimately turned out okay".
Don't remember a single thing about him worrying about not being able to consummate the relationship without hurting her- if it was mentioned, it must have been brief.
But I digress. We're arguing too much when we ought to be talking about how AWESOME SUPERMAN IS!

So some people are labelling new 52 Superman as Superbro.
Superman comes back to life...
Love this moment, he need to do it again next year.
