I was also completely against the New 52, but gave a number of titles a year to change my mind. None did, and I found the most enjoyable were those disconnected from the rest of the scattershot universe that resulted from Rebirth. Frankenstein and Action Comics were my favorites.
Action almost felt like a self-contained Elseworlds or Earth-One tale, and in that context, it's beautiful. My favorite moments/concepts from Morrison's run include:
*The proto-costume
*Golden Age power levels
*Clark's characterization
*Clark and Jimmy's friendship
*Clark first working at the Daily Star
*Clark and Lois' genuine rivalry and mutual respect
*Mrs. Nyxly and her role in Clark's life
*Luthor's portrayal and his scheme to stop Superman
*that phenomenal bullet train sequence and the interrogation in the following issue
*Clark's solution for getting to the Collector of World's ship
*Clark's use of his miniaturized ship to reprogram the Collector and his ship
*The return to a Silver/Bronze/post-Infinite Crisis Krypton
*Jor-El and Lara's characterizations
*The Phantom King
*The mission to Mars, interaction with the scientists there
*The truly fantastic sequence that sees Superman read medical texts at super speed and the operation on Lois using his fingernail as a scalpel
I was not as impressed with the Vyndktvx arc, though I did enjoy the callbacks to the Silver Age and the ultimate solution Superman found to defeating Vyn.
I'd love to see these moments "folded" into the new history of the post-Reborn Superman.
