Interview with Chris Roberson about this upcoming new series.
Interesting. First I've heard of this one. Has some potential to really expose some of the unknown in the Mignolaverse.
I hope it's time hoppy. Instead of just staying in the ancient times the article seems to discuss. I'd love to see bits of him across the time line

I'm sure I'll read it, eventually like everything else Mignolaverse.
This has got me super psyched. Love The Black Flame.
All the weird one-off mini-series have been killer.
Oh, cool! At first I just thought this was the first arc in the new BPRD cycle, but I see it's a separate mini-series all together. Very excited for this!
The bizarre origin of the BPRD’s greatest foe.

Glad to see the universe I love so much will have at least some stories continuing post-Hellboy in Hell.
Not sure why, but when I saw the guys at the bottom of the cover I was reminded of the bad guys in Abe Sapien: The Drowning, the ones following the warlock (or whatever he was) who over-extended his life a little too long...
I love that we are getting so many answers. With Arcudi (mostly) leaving and Mignola on hiatus/maybe finished it's clear that all these great dominoes are starting to fall. Maybe we will find out more about Ereshigal in this series.
Middenway - The thing I was little confused over his "many lives" - the sequence in there showing his many faces across time, one looked like Rasputin.
Yes, although in Abe Sapien: the Drowning the storytelling potentially turns from showing the faces to him,
to 'Cedu-Barra', the wizard and (Hyperborean) priest,
to showing a Rasputin-like figure at the point of saying "and always those devils, watching..."
So one could read it as if the Rasputin figure might be either the (Hyperborean) priest or one of the devils potentially.

SLINT / Mike Mignola / Walt Whitman / Arthur Lourié / Dr. Pepper
do I understand this correctly that this mini can be read with little to no knowledge of the main BPRD series which just finished?
Yeah, it should be quite accessible to new readers.
I would think that'd be a coincidence, especially since that connection doesn't fit with the timeline. Cedu-Barra was inactive from 1884 to 1981. I can see the similarity, but it looks like a face distinct from Rasputin's to me.
