Mutant League -- EA made this series of Monster-themed sports games for the Sega Genesis. Based loosely off their normal Football and Hockey games at the time, they added things ranging from accidental and intentional player deaths, pits, playing fields ranging from Grass and Mud to Ice, Rock, Toxic Waste, and Rubber, sharks, landmines, referee bribing(, referee murder), weapons, and the like. Just imagine that added to what their sports games are like now. I mean seriously, a Manager mode where you can bring dead players back as skeletons, infect sub-performing players with alien parasites(or feed them to your star player) and stuff like that.
