We always know that any death can be temporary in mainstream comics. It's never a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when" for most characters.

The impact of something like Jean's death in DPS can never be replicated again because that cat's out of the bag. And was reinforced with the resurrections of Superman, Jason Todd, etc.

Death lost its impact in comics simply because it was overused. Resurrection were just a symptom of the problem.
But when writers were giving characters stupid deaths for things like making their new pet villain look tougher or as cheap attempts at shock, they started down the path of overuse and bad writing.

The problem is overuse in death is never going away, no matter how many times fans kick and scream. Thinking that getting rid of the Five, slapping killhappy writers on the wrist, and telling them not to kill characters anymore is gonna work isn’t accounting for the giant corporation who knows that death = sales boosts.

Nah, one of the problems the X-books have had for years is that they either kill off any human allies they have or reveal they were *GASP* mutants the entire time. It cheapens the entire endeavor that the they basically have no human friends, and the implication that to be important in the X-books you must be a mutant.

It's really rare have humans as supporting cast of X-men lately.

At least death had a minor suspense into it.

Okay. None of the Braddocks should be mutants. They should be magical. Meggan should not only be a mutant, but also magical.

I pine for the parallel where he's the cocky smart himbo in the mansion, and Betsy never met Slaymaster.
