Maddie is far more interesting than Jean.
Emma is best.
Agree.
But, she has two things going against her. Marvel doesn't bet on her success enough to treat her as a major x-character and when they don't the comic shops don't and set their orders accordingly. Second Marvel can't agree to a base characterization for her. Their nostalgic era version of Lorna was basically a lite version of Jean which they prefer because that was what they grew up with. But, Lorna became popular under a very different characterization, pathos and worldview then the old guard sees her as. Her 80s/90s characterization was never popular and there is no way editors who see her as that can make it popular.

Scott, Jean and Emma are all great and don't deserve some of the hate they get from bad writing.
The first few issues of X-Factor and the fallout we feel from them to this day are still godawful, but Scott and Maddie's marriage was a creepy fraud before Jean even came back and would have self destructed no matter what. The clone retcon and becoming the Goblyn Queen made her a vastly more interesting character...as long as Claremont himself was writing it and she was still sympathetic.
I'm excited for her return as long as Wells writes her along those lines, less so Simonson's take. And whatever nonsense happened between Inferno and now.
Yeah, which was creepy, but what really creeps me out is how Jean doesn't just get back with Scott, but also replaces Maddie as little Nathan's mother. Now, nothing wrong with stepmothers and adoption and all that, but the takeover was just too complete and just...creepy. It was like Maddie never existed while Scott and Jean just went about their lives with their baby.
