Rogue should have married Magneto.
And then due to circumstances, Polaris and Gambit start dating.
Hilarious antics ensue............probably caused by Mystique.
The X-Men characters feel too cold, cynical, and militarized in their personalities these days. I know that others would say it’s justified after all the “apocalyptic torture porn” the writers have put them through, but even with that understanding, I still feel for distant from them and just end up reading the older material, like Kitty’s Fairy Tale from 1982, which is an era I gravitate more towards even though Days of Future Past happened around the same time.

You have inspired me to write out my really unpopular opinion. Ackshually, I may have written this in here before, cant remember, tbh:
I miss ResurrXion and Dawn of X, post-HoxPox is good but perhaps not as good. From this new era, I mainly just like X-Force and Marauders and those aren't THAT much better than most of X-Men Blue, X-Men Red, Jean Grey, and All New Wolverine, if they are at all better. It's very arguable that these are all at least on par with Marauders, if not better.
Generation X is way better than New Mutants, no question, except New Mutants has better art. I would pay to have Reis redo Strain's GenX. Not that I hated the Gen X art.
Excalibur is worse than pretty much all of the ResurrXion books by a not insignificant margin.
The setting of Krakoa goes a looooooooong way, but still only just so far. Hellions has surprised with that 1st issue, but again, it's inline with the ResurrXion books at best. Leah's kind of annoying but I have high hopes for X-Factor but I'm not expecting to be blown away.
As for Vita's book. I'm mad about the premise. Want to see Vita with a team of real X-Men here soon.
All in all: ResurrXion smallbutvisiblegreaterthansign Hickman era, so far.
Hate me if you want, IDC.

“Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” Goethe
Oh sorry! Plot and characterization. I don't find myself much more engrossed in general in this era than the time of ResurrXion. I'm probably less engrossed by the stories overall, actually, not counting the cool setting of Krakoa. Gold was weak but overall, the resurrXion lineup was pretty solid story beat and character-wise.
I agree that a new setting was refreshing but here is my unpopular and controversial opinion:
for me, X-men have lost their personality and depth, they behave in a stereotypical and too simply way.
If they had remained in-character, Krakoa would have been a good idea.
So, I understand Electricmaestro and his nostalgia.

Ah, I wasn’t even approaching the older material with nostalgia since I didn’t grow up with it. Despite that though, the 1960s-1980s material felt more approachable to me overall, I guess partly because it felt like the X-Men lived in a happier, more sane existence of being quicker to work with non-mutant humans, like Captain America, and being quicker to believe in Professor’s X hope of getting closer with humans, in spite of the Sentinels and mutant protesters and such, as well as later writers making it feel that Days of Future Past was always just around the corner. Maybe’s it’s also partly because I’m into the idea of Star Trek idea of co-existing, and if that makes me an optimistic fool, then I might as well be upfront and honest about my opinion.

They did that to set standards because they have guys like Mystique, Shaw, Sinister and Exodus.
If it were just Xavier and his X-Men, they wouldn’t need to make it a law.
I'd rather they try to keep some heroic aspects of the team around. Otherwise you might as well just replace their X belt buckles with Punisher logos.
I miss the days when we had one team that was the militant strike force and the other teams that didn't approve. You actually saw multiple views on the subject and it provided some nice contrast and character conflict
The idea that EVERYONE on Krakoa is okay playing by the same rules robs us a lot of that.
