If you notice, Rogue is the only one, in the issue, to reach out to Gateway, sharing food with him and even Christmas day. Ali, on the other hand, spent most of her time drooling over a motorcycle the Revers had stolen...

It's one of many reasons why I love Rogue, and why I -mmm- don't love Ali so much ;P .

In other ways, it surprised me that Claremont didn't explore the (potentially interesting) interaction between two weird guys as Longshot and Gateway. Ann Nocenti sorta did it, with another Aborigine man, in "Dreamwalk" (Marvel Comics Presents #16).

That's a little harder with Rogue than rape or not. Or rather ... Yes it was rape but Rogue was insane during times she used kissing as attack (mostly)

From what we know about her powers from technical point of view:
she steals life energy, powers, memories, physical appearance, knowledge and psyche even DNA of person known Ms MArvel (or MS MArvel lied because she had hard time)
or
she steals life energy and copies powers, memories, physical appearance, knowledge and psyche even DNA of any other being

Rogue was insane during because she had multiple personality disorder and her actions was affected by copies of persons psyche absorbed by her. From our laws she didn't even rape because it was some hybrid of Human and Kree with different height, DNA and everything. Most of her kissed where during this times.

Not that it justifies it, but with the full-body spandex days sometimes the only skin available on both Rogue and her victim is on the face.


I'm not sure an energy-sapping death-nuzzle is great either.
