    Default Best Bond opening songs

Basically: what's your favourite Bond theme song/s?
    Mine are:

1st: The Spy Who Loved Me; Nobody Does It Better

    2nd: Octopussy; All-time High

    3rd: For Your Eyes Only

EDIT: The strikethrough code ( [s]word[/s] ) doesn't seem to work, but I can't think of The Spy Who Loved Me without thinking The Spy Who Shagged Me.

1st: Goldfinger- Shirley Bassey's powerful vocals just always resonated with me, and really captured the essence of a classic bad guy in Auric Goldfinger so well...
2nd: Thunderball- Tom Jones. Just such an incredibly smooth theme, appropriate for Sean Connery's JB.
3rd: For Your Eyes Only- Just so beautifully done by Sheena Easton

1st place: Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey. Best of the best, hands down.

2nd place: The Spy Who Loved Me by Carly Simon. Classic 70's Bond song.

3rd place: A View To A Kill by Duran Duran. What can I say? It's got a funky vibe.

For me, any good Bond theme will have the vibe of both Bond and the band that made it.

Not sure about the Goldfinger theme, since I have never really heard the artist otherwise. But since it IS the best Bond film, with the best Bond villain, the sing gets a pass anyways and deserves a place near the top of the list.

    My top 3 are...

Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon

For Your Eyes Only by Sheena Easton

And one that hasn't been mentioned, my personal fave of the three

The World Is Not Enough by Garbage

But it might be that I love the first two albums from the band. While I love the song A View To A Kill, it feels to much like Duran Duran and not enough like Bond for me to call it a great Bond theme.

    Goldfinger

    Nobody Does it Better

    The Spy who Loved me

    You only Live Twice

A View to a Kill - Duran Duran

    The Living Daylights by A-ha

Did another day - by Madonna

    Another Way to Die

I'm sure a lot of JB fans are already aware of this, but just in case I wanted to highly recommend a 2-CD set I just recently got from Amazon - The Best of Bond (2012). This has all of the opening theme songs from all the bond films from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace, plus an extra CD full of bonus tracks. I know it doesn't include songs from the last two JB films (Skyfall & Spectre), but that's understandable given that it came out right before Skyfall was released theatricaly.

I had gotten this out of the library prior to buying this, and it's one of the most compelling CD's I've ever heard. I really enjoyed listening to all of the theme songs of the films - in the order in which they came out. It really illustrated not only how pop/rock music changed from one era to the next, but also illustrates how great most of these songs are; listening to them really transports me back to the time period that these were released (even though I wasn't even born when the 1960's JB movies came out). It was also interesting that I liked some of the songs more than many of the films the songs were taken from; for example, I felt View to a Kill was an extremely sub-par & weak Bond film - however, the VTAK theme song by Duran Duran was amazing...

Also really enjoyed the 2nd CD in the set, which included: non-theme song music that played in the various movies, as well as other tracks - including Moby's version of the JB theme.

I know. Not only is "Live and Let Die" one of the greatest Bond theme tunes, but it is also one of the best songs in Paul's post-Beatles career.

"Nobody Does It Better" is # 1. A great song written by great songwriters sung by a great singer. "Live and Let Die" is a semi-close second. Pretty much everything else pales. There are a number of other good ones, but those are the truly great ones.

Yes, I omitted Live & Let Die from my previous post. This is an amazing song, and IMHO rivals many of the classic songs by the Beatles.

#1 - Goldfinger. Of course it is.

#2 - Live and Let Die.

#3 - Nobody Does It Better.

#4 - Goldeneye. The last one to feel like 'classic Bond', if such a thing exists.

#5 - The World Is Not Enough. A lot of personal bias for this one.

Honourable Mention: Where Has Everybody Gone? by The Pretenders, which is IMO the real theme of The Living Daylights. They even work it into the score.
The X-Books Board is wretched and does not deserve the Domino Appreciation Thread.
